Re: Could be a broken spring?
Have any of you guys ever fitted after market springs to a passat? What worries me is if VW have so finely tuned different springs to the different varients of Passat any after market spring would never be a good match. Saying that the car does do eighty odd miles a day over country lanes so perhaps...

Re: Could be a broken spring?
Thanks guys, VW want 107 quid for a spring, thats a bit much but if I go aftermarket I need two so the cost will be the same, and I might not get springs that are as good a match for the car as genuine. Does anyone know the OEM for VW speings?

Re: Could be a broken spring?
Apparently VW have lots of spring options for these cars, even the autos had a different spring spec from what I am reading. I might have to give VW a call tomorrow and see whats what.

Car drives normally, slight pull to nearside but only very slight, doesn't look to be listing to one side. I wont get a chance to see whats going on un...

Re: Estate tailgate button on door?
Sussed it, the middle button works if you hold it down for a few seconds! It works with the central locking, so its looking like a switch issue then?

Re: HIGHLINE PLUS 2.0 TDI 170 MPG POOR
Those engine cleaning things, dont buy into it, a good blast on the motorway would suffice. I get 50 odd on the windy roads and 60 odd on the motorway out of my cr engine, I do drive like a granny though, its a Passat after all so I drive it like a Passat.

Re: Estate tailgate button on door?
So it works when unlocking the car normally, or locking it with the fob, middle button on fob doesnt work and switch doesnt work, that cant be a mechanical fault can it?

Lights flicking between dim and bright on idle?
Interior and side lights, could this be the belt or tensioner sticking? Idle doesnt change.

Re: Estate tailgate button on door?
Or the lock sensor wiring connector on the boot or tailgate lock itself is rotted out as can happen, in which case the car doesnt have a clue what state the lock is in. however this usually also brings alarm and general locking issues too. Would a scanner have picked this up? VW gave the can a heal...

Re: Estate tailgate button on door?
That button should only open central locking on the tailgate - nothing else. Which then allows you to open the tailgate with switch on the tailgate while rest of the car remains locked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk But to open the tailgate with the button you must first get into the car which...

Re: Estate tailgate button on door?
Yes, it does lock itself when I pull away, It just doesn't unlock itself when I stop, which makes sense I suppose as I may be stationary in traffic. The button doesn't unlock or open the boot, is it a faulty button? I cant see any other reason why you would want to unlock the boot from inside the ca...

If I pull up in my car , leave the keys in the ignition, the tailgate remains locked until I remove the keys, also pressing the button in the door does nothing, any ideas?

When you lock the car with the remote, is it supposed to make a sound? My flashers flash but no sound.
