Fog lights
Anyone rate the depo fog / driving lamps ? - look like oem but have projector lens and presumably cutoff like the dipped beams... They seem twice as expensive as oem and not many places to buy from but also seem to be the most reputable aftermarket brand. (Considering their other lamp models, I coul...

Re: Advice regarding EGR cleaning
Purpose of EGR is purely environmental. It enrichens the charge mix to reduce combustion temps from making toxic nitrogen oxides. This is at idle and no load where there is hardly any fuel but loads of oxygen (lean mix) The other butterfly valve people call the throttle body is the asv = anti shudde...

Clean it gently without submerging and refit. Check the valve is still firmly closed... If it's not firmly seating it can wastegate boost off.

Re: Bmr oil smoke
There's no "hockey puck" separator to be seen on the valve cover breather... I'll try starting the engine with it unclipped... If it doesn't rush out there then there must be one built inside the top of the valve cover, and clogged!?

Re: Bmr oil smoke
Had a quick look... On tickover loosened oil cap has loads of air pulsing out and almost wouldn't stay in place. Found one breather from top of valve cover to turbo intake. Unclipped it and neither end seems blocked, and this is only 30 cm in front of the air filter.... Confused!!! Maybe there's a s...

worn tyres in low temps. And braking and turning simultaneously will be unbalancing the car. Also are you carrying less (rear) load than usual or has someone inflated your rear tyres too much perhaps same pressure as the fronts?

Ok will do. Suppose this is a filter in itself which nobody has on their maintenance to check/change but can clog on some engines

Re: Bmr oil smoke
It seems most noticeable at idle, Ie doesnt seem to smoke more on revving rather when take foot off and smoke starts at idle speed. So for diagnosis, what?- check boost pipes/ turbo to rule out turbo seals.../ Compression test to check rings../. Narrowing down to valve stem seals... ? What kind of w...

Bmr oil smoke
Can injector bolts easily be checked for tightness? My engine is running oil into the combustion chambers after shutoff and during running. It's particularly smokey (oil smoke) during warmup with a few mins of rough running at idle when warming up. Also when up to temp after engine shut off for 10 m...

Re: ABS warning and exclamation mark warning light
Google pics of cv joints... The thin metal strip with square holes in is the reluctor ring.. The magnetic abs sensor senses the "holes" to indicate a signal to the ecu for how fast the roadwheel is turning. The ring can rust/break. Also the sensor head can get full of magnetic rusty crud.....

Re: Taking pictures after a bump. Why?

He didn't even mark anything on the little diagram but wrote some notes down and muttered something about paint on bumpers and wing mirrors being a wear and tear ...

I read up on this last year and promised never to go near it again lol it's too taxing. I'll try and remember what put the 50501 and 50700/50400 specs apart.
