I have spoken to Simon. He's not convinced about the k04 chip. US cars use different ecus and the K04 is pretty sussed there - they have quite few chips there.

Ordered a K04 last week and its coming very soon. I have questions and please don't fob me off by saying go to passatworld.com i've heard the ECUs are different stateside and most if not all go for a K04 chip which wouldn't work with ours. I know upsolute do a chip but Simon Coe isn't really convinc...

Ive been told by a guy at a rolling road that about up to 270bhp ish is ok on the 1.8t. Anything much more than that you are probably going to have bent rods. although i suppose if you can tune it properly then maybe 300bhp is safe. After that your into sinking great wads getting the internals done ...

I've had p6000s (w rated) as well for more than a year/15000 miles - they have been fine and still have plenty of life in them.

forget the k03 i am gonna go for a k04 - does anyone know if the k04 works ok on stock ecu/k03 chip? Does anyone know wher i can get it remapped without gettin ripped off? (i'm moving house so its kinda tight)

Sorry to revive an old thread but what do you mean by the above? Is it a k03 from a b5.5 1.8t or did you port and polish it? If it is from a b5.5 hows it running? (i need to replace my turbo) Well I'm not entirely sure how it's done, but I searched around for a new turbo and found a place in German...
