Re: New control arm set? Is Meyle HD decent kit?

you set the top arms by doing them one at a time and just making sure they are at the same angle to the original ones if the pinch bolts are loose you are probably looking at around an hour a side maybe a little more on the floor This is the bit I am confused about?? Do I have to remove the shock a...

Re: New control arm set? Is Meyle HD decent kit?

Went up to our garage in Telford yesterday with our B5 Passat Estate and our Golf Mk2 Gti. The Golf had some body work done a few months back and needed a couple of thing rectifying before we sell it. I was hoping that the garage would diagnose the slight knocking from the front of the Passat and th...

Hi there. Can you explain? So the steel wheel bolts will be no good then? Why would I need locking bolts? Nobody down here in Kent steals alloy wheels off a 15 year old car :esm

Hi there thanks for the offer! However we are also taking our Mk2 Golf Gti up to the same garage on the same day as it is getting some bodywork sorted before we sell it!

Re: New control arm set? Is Meyle HD decent kit?

Tbh that is a VERY good price for a meyle HD arm kit! does it include all 8 arms, 2 droplinks and 2 track rod ends? Hi there! I have checked again and it doesn't include the drop links for £279.00. I would probably spend an extra £15 and get the kit with the droplinks which is listed for £294.00...

Alloy wheel advice for our B5 Estate.

Couple of months back we picked up a lovely Pacific blue B5 110TDI SE Estate. The car has full service history and has been well looked after! Unfortunately it came with 15" steel wheels and horrible VW plastic wheel trims  I have a spare set of Audi alloys in the shed and they are a bit d...

New control arm set? Is Meyle HD decent kit?

Hello folks! just got back from a recent 1550 mile round trip in our recently purchased Passat B5 110 TDI SE (1999) Estate! Car was faultless and we got around 750 miles to a full tank of cheap(er) French diesel!! :esm Anyway the only thing I noticed was a slight knocking from the front end over rou...

Trim clips and grommets for pillar fixing?

Hi all! I am pretty new to Passats as we have only owned ours for a couple of weeks. I have just fitted a DAB stereo and DAB bee sting aerial in place of the original Passat aerial. I routed the DAB aerial cable down behind the rear pillar on our B5 Estate and then along the sill. I had a few proble...

I fitted one of those aerials to my old Audi a4 , it wasnt to bad of a job , (I'm not to sure if the passat is the same) i removed the interior boot light completely as the aerial was right above it , I then unscrewed the aerial whip then the plastic cap on the outside of the base twists off the re...

Fitting a DAB aerial to the B5 Wagon, advice needed?

Hello all! We have been making a few changes on our newly purchased B5 Passat Wagon. First thing was to replace the the VW Gamma head unit with a new DAB head unit. Simple job to fit it, but the magnetic exterior DAB aerial is cumbersome and there is no way of routing the wire inside the car from th...

Check this forum for blocked plenum drains under the battery and make sure yours are not blocked. Major problems if these block. It is a design fault and has caused thousands of Passat owners problems. There are two drainage holes in the plenum chamber, one is under the battery and the other is und...

Re: Going to view my first Passat any advice?

If you want superb economy with reasonable simplicity then AFN (nothing much else comes close), if you want a little more power but worse fuel economy PD130 (AWX or AVF). Passat Try to get a reasonable length test drive to test the economy, extra urban should see you in high 40's early 50's over a ...

Going to view my first Passat any advice?

We are off to leafy Surrey on Sunday to potentially purchase our first Passat! Saw the car on Autotrader and it seems a bargain at a price of under a grand! I was planning on spending more on a newer B5.5 130 Sport but this car seems a steal at under a grand? It is a B5 Passat 1.9 TDI 110BHP SE Esta...

Its that gorgeous metallic blue colour such as the car on the header for this forum. It is a 1.9 TDI 110BHP SE (S re...

Hello again!! I have seen a lowish mileage B5 Passat 1.9 TDI Estate 110 BHP with only 129,000 miles for under a £1000. Looks a good honest car in a lovely colour. Bright metallic blue! Waiting to speak to the owner to get more info! What do the 110 BHP cars drive like? Is it possible to remap them ...

Thank you for all the replies guys!! We have seen a nice Silver Passat 130 TDI Sport, 6 speed (2002 reg so should have the Getrag box?), close to us in Ashford in Kent. FSH and only 112,000 miles from new. Has the seven spoke alloys and all the goodies. Private seller. Only issues are a slight bonne...

Newbie on here looking to buy a Passat B5 or B5.5?

Hello everyone. I have just registered as a new user and would like to get some advice about buying a Passat TDI Estate! Myself and my girlfriend have run VW's for many years, mainly old school models like the Golf Mk2 and currently we own two Mk2 gti's (both 8 valves) and a VW T4 Transporter that i...
