Re: B5.5 PD130 - Blue smoke!!!

Mine does it too but only for 1 second but is quite a lot sometimes. As it's not all the time and weather dependant, I'm going with glow plugs and battery change. When the weather heats up ill be doing oil change then remove egr pipe as heard that could help. As for the smell it's hard to say, more ...

Re: 2nd hand car pcp

The car I'm looking at has everything I want and is top spec just without many of the pointless optional extras, the only thing I wish it had was a rear view camera but not overly fussed as I can park estates much better than my passat saloon which never seemed to end at the rear. this week or so it...

Anyone ever haggled on the price before?

Usually when I try to haggle it never really works.

Any hints would be great!

Not too sure but the azm you could only disconnect the fuel injectors in banks of two.

Might be the same but you'll see tabs you just push in and pull the connectors up

Re: Glow plugs

It's a 2002 avf, will the gn046 be okay? It looked like it is, this morning it was -3 so I turned the ignition on the glowplug went off after 2 seconds them turned ignition off then back on then started absolutely fine. So I'm thinking they're due a change and only 40 quid or so nothing to loose but...

Glow plugs

Is gn046 still the recommended glow plugs to get? I saw the how-to but quite old now. My car is struggling to start (battery needs replacing as dash dims too) and then bluey smoke upon first start up, fine throught the day and starts nice, just not liking the minus numbers recently. So i want to cha...

Re: Headlight Range

Everything looks fine, its a kit i got from ray on here and swapped over to my estate but the bulbs are different tbh so might buy 5k instead of 4.3k. Ive not adjusted the lights but if i do then no doubt they'll start blinding people, im guessing mot testers adjust up/down until at the correct leve...

Headlight Range

Hello, My car not long passed MOT but i'm sure the headlight range is a little too short. I have to get pretty close to a car to even see mine, whereas i'm sure my saloon it went a lot further. It does have 4300k hid's, it's bright enough, just doesn't seem to go far enough. As it's had MOT they wou...

Thats the over flow, it only ever overflows if you pour it in incorrectly, cap has failed or head gasket

Re: Not my normal successful oil change

I still don't really understand the need for diyers to extract oil.

I can't help but think folk with extractors would suck up bath water instead of using the plug haha

I can understand a syringe for under the oil filter, but surely everything else would come out of the sump plug/bath plug?

Re: Coolant loss!

Worst case head gasket, pressure tests don't work on diesels.

Best case, leaking radiator or leak at the back of the engine and if you see pink crusty stuff then there's your leak.

If your seeing water marks under the header tank then replace the cap, but sounds like bad news to me

Good luck :)

I love it when people talk rebuild kits , oem is Valeo . Even at £45 it's a waste of time and money as my complete new Bosch motor cost £52 and 3 bolts to fit . http://rs1310.pbsrc.com/albums/s645/Gazwould/28788fc7-879a-40e6-96d5-757df687d9d9_zpsbbf64104.jpg?w=480&h=480&fit=clip This fina...

Minus 5-10mpg then youll have near true mpg.

I think when they do the teats its with no driver in the car rolling roads etc etc.

I know ofcom is getting rules changed for broadband up to speeds, hopefully theyll clamp down on car manufactures producing fabricated lies

Re: The future of LED headlight bulbs

Remember hids are technically legal because of their loophole wording.

Leds dont need headlight washers if they are under a certain lumen amount but seeing those new mercs with stupidly bright almost purple lights without washers I think we can get away buying cheapo rip offs

Watch the top gear episode where they look for the source of the nile, they all sleep in their cars. Jezza's 5 series will be the closest to the passat and think youll be fine. In all honesty just buy a quechua pop up tent and be part of the experience rather than an outsider as such https://www.dec...
