Re: 1.8t mpg, the last 1100 miles
Dont expect to see a massive difference on your 1st tank and I try to make it coincide with a decent run somewhere. I always put it in 1st then petrol second and I dont do it to the brim I do about £50 worth ... But thats up to you.

Re: 1.8t mpg, the last 1100 miles
I use Shell Super Unleaded, the old girl hates the normal stuff now LOL. I reset my MFA 2 every 1000 miles and get approx 33.5mpg. I do an 18 mile trip each way into work last 4 miles is city centre driving and the first 14 is a mixture of 50 & 60's and I regularly see high 30's. However where ...

Re: Throttle body cleaning on B5 1.8 turbo
WD 40 does a good job as well and most people have some . loosen the intake hose , slip it off the throttle body and remove from the intercooler at the other end , this gives you more room to work . The throttle body is held on by four allen bolts , obviously remove the throttle cable first ( I'm s...

Re: Throttle body cleaning on B5 1.8 turbo
Is it Drive By Wire? if so youre supposed to re adapt it if taken off the car (although Ive heard of some never having to). If not then you should be good. Ive used a few things before, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, things of that sort of nature with a rag/cloth to give the butterfly etc a good wipe...

Re: Gave her a little clean yesterday.
Anyway she is still completely standard as I have been recovering from an operation but in the nice weather and before the hosepipe ban kicked in I refurbed the headlights with wet and dry paper and machine polished the old girl and lights. Just clicked over 144k, straight through MOT just needed CV...

Gave the old girl hers and my first machine polish!
Evening all. Thought I would post a pic of my old b5 1.8 turbo. For Christmas my inlaws bought me a machine polisher and today is the first time it has been used. I didnt use any special polish or waxes etc ... as I must use some stuff before I replenish and replace my stocks LOL. Anyhow she was sno...

I did look at them tbh and they are very nice and suit the passat very well! But dont really want to spend that kinda money on the motor with my wedding in May. GLWS on your rims though.mks007 wrote:get my bmw x5 rims he

Audi a6 alloy wheels query
Evening all. First off apologies if this is a somewhat stupid question but I am watching some wheels on the bay which are from an Audi a6 4.2 quattro they are widetrack wheels and as such have 245/40/17 tyres ... my query as I think you can guess will these fit straight onto the Passat, apparently t...

Re: Burner's Passat B5.5 Variant - new bits and pieces
How do you find the rokkor coilovers? Was looking at these and the FK ones which are both priced fairly similar Price wise they were ok. A bit to comfortable/soft for me. I was hoping they would be harder. I've heard some bad stuff about FK so I don't recommend. Consider purchasing TA Technix ;) Ah...

Re: Gave her a little clean yesterday.
thanks for the positive comments. headlights need a bit of a rub down aqnd polish up - not too bad at the moment but if I leave them I am sure they will get worse in no time. Will be using the how 2 section which I found really valuable. Next purchase will be a clay bar as I dont have one yet.

Re: Gave her a little clean yesterday.
Retention certificate for which number? You don't have a retention certificate for a private plate once it is on the car. The number goes onto the V5, you own the car, therefore own the number. If a new car is put straight onto a private plate from new, it is never issued with age related number fr...

Re: Gave her a little clean yesterday.
Yep thats right because when she was first purchased - she was put straight onto private plates when the second owner bought it about 6 years later she had lost the certificate she got when she put it onto private plates basically long story short DVLA backdate the registration to the year the mode...
