I have done the same had 2x Passats and love them but need some more power and weight for towing the caravan, i decided on a BMW 5 series 530D very comfortable on the motorway and plenty power and torque as standard but doesnt handle near as good as the Passat esp the 4 motion but its a compromise d...

i had one on my old wagon...i fitted it due to the bottom chafing on the plastic duct and it blew the seal out i fitted a non genuine cooler only for the end tank to explode before i got out the street, the FMIC did improve how the car felt if driven hard it didn't feel as flat top end and i thought...

I have had parts from ECP and other retailers in the past where the part is genuine with the OEM part number removed just wish i had a back door in at BMW as i have just bought an E60 530D

get it plugged in see what fault codes ate present, could be a sensor failing or a switch as above all can be checked VIA VAG COM

I still have my 4mo wagon but i have now bought a 530D, will keep the passat for a few months see how i get on with the BMW.

has it holed? because its double skined the bottom was hanging on my old estate i cut it off a few years ago lol now done 310K still on original exhaust bar the flexi as it was torn.

Depends on the year newer ones 53> can throw up an eml, I have the vac line pulled and blanked on my 03 wagon with no issues.

it drives fine tbh corners realy nice much better than my sport FWD i have eibach sport kit with koni shocks on the 4mo, the koni dampers has adjustable platforms on the rear i have tham up as high as it goes and i have the front on a +12mm spacer below the spring, be warned it will be low with the ...

i dont know if the RS shares the same set up for the ARB on the rear, i never changed the subframe bushes they look robust and dont have to move as much as the arm bushes, did you align the front subframe? i put the track rod down as far as it goes as i have lowered my car.

i have a 51 plate passat estate I had it mapped at 210K i replaced the clutch the next week the dulmass was still ok it has now covered 310K and still going strong, so if its not rattleing on idle and it doesnt have mega play i would be tempted to just throw a clutch at it.

Strong flex do full bush kits the cam bolts can be a royal pain to remove esp the rear toe ones as the bush is aluminium, if you have time it would be best to drop the lot out and do it from scrtch, i have done some of the bushes on my 4mo but want to do a complete overhall at some point.

its just about impossible to get the trims out with the bumper on they have little push in pins at one end once they have been removed they slide allong and pull out.

the pump and the thermostat are on diferent sides of of the engine i cant remember they are close never looked to see if the pump is visible when the thermostat is out.

pull the vacuum pipe and blank the small feed pipe, if its a facelift model with indicators on the mirrors it may bring on the EML.
