I Hit a curb....was actually worse than this but I panicked and set about it with a hammer to try and straighten it up...it's now got a hair line crack along the rim, if you zoom in on 1st pic you can see it, Hammers use to be the weapon of choice when it came to repairing thin...

If I remember correctly the later b5.5 6 speed gearboxes are prone to diff wear, so a smf would just excelarate that wear

A dmf does cushion and protect the box....I've heard first hand a passat tdi with a smf fitted and it was pretty chattery...a lot more than my smf was ( petrol )
