Re: 2004 passat rear passenger door not locking
Could be, but before doing that, check the wires in the rubber boot between the door and the car's body, in case any have fractured where they bend as the door is opened and closed.

Re: air con pump noisy/squeaky
Try this to isolate the noise. Using a suitable long screwdriver or metal rod, place one end on to the suspect component(s), and place the other end of the screwdriver/rod against your (closed) ear. This will enable you to hear all the rumblings from that component while shutting out most of the oth...

Re: air con pump noisy/squeaky
Before you launch an attack on the compressor, with all the work and cost in involves, have a look at the radiator fans. Depending on your car's engine type you may have two electric fans behind the radiator, one of which will be on all the time the aircon is on, (so will be off when you select econ...

Re: Headlamp washers shenanigans
I think I am right in saying that the nozzles extend under the water pressure from the pump, in which case your pump is probably OK. Simple things first, are you certain the nozzles are not blocked? Cars that have washer nozzles with a spray pattern as opposed to a jet, should have only VW washer ad...

Re: Possible Aircon problem diagnoses
Depending on the particular arrangement in your car there may be an electric radiator fan that switches on and off with the aircon. If you have such an arrangement, check very carefully that the noise is not coming from that fan (motor), which is very near to the compressor and belt. You may find yo...

Re: Changing bulbs on high level 3rd brake light?
Cannot assist with precise details of how to do it, but here is the parts diagram and parts listings if that helps.
It appears to have 8x 5W W5W bulbs, (the wedge type). You could replace them with LEDs if you wish, or just use the ordinary bulbs.

Here are a couple of generic diagrams to get you started.
To be certain of obtaining the right diagram you will need to post the following info:
Year
Engine code
FWD or 4Motion
Manual or auto
Estate or saloon
Hope this helps a bit.

Comparing part numbers between a 1999 and 2002 Passat shows the basic numbers to be identical, but as is so often the case there are some 'howevers'. There exist a number of variations of the part numbers depending on things like: LHD/RHD (the characteristics of the glass will differ) The colour of ...

When you fitted the new H7s their colour temp was 1000 deg higher than that of the old LEDs, so the H7s looked bluer, (perceived as whiter). The new LEDs are now 1000 deg higher in colour temp that the H7s, so now the new LEDs are bluer still (perceived as whiter still), making the H7s now look more...

the bracket is welded to rear crash bar. But that crash bar is only attached to the rear of the body by a few M6 threads!!! It's only purpose is to give something fairly solid to push against, it has virtually no "pulling" strength. I have not fitted a towbar to a Passat but I have to oth...

Could you try contacting the person from whom you bought the car in case he/she has the vital bit of tow bar tucked away in a shed or something like that?
It is a bit of a long shot but might be worth a try.
Good luck!

I do not know much at all about alarms, but the part number, 998VAG153 suggests that it is indeed an aftermarket device, - the VAG in the part number indicates that it was procured locally and supplied by VAG (UK). Google that part number for more information. 998VAG153 You can also Google: scorpion...
