Re: Carplay . . .

Thank you. Yes thought so I’m in the exact same spot P Adams, just bought the car this week and looking to try and get CarPlay, did you manage to get CarPlay in the end and if so what method did you use? Press and hold the menu button on the infotainment screen for 5 seconds, then select Software (...

Re: bought a high mileage passat gte - so questions

Open the tailgate. If there are buttons on the tailgate trim panel near the grab handle then it has a powered tailgate and needs diagnosing if its not opening. If there are no buttons on the tailgate trim, then you don't have the powered version, just the good old struts, so yes, you have to open it...

Re: Won't start after stalling

This is what can't be diagnosed just by looking to see if the belt is still there unfortunately.

Hopefully there isn't any catastrophic damage

Re: B8 Estate Boot Latch/Lock Broken

@maclee thanks for your help! Useful information and in the end, a bit of crawling around in the boot yielded the answer (5TA 827 505 D) and a call to VW established that they were able to supply the unit for almost the same price as I had seen online, and more to the point, they could actually del...

Re: B8 Estate Boot Latch/Lock Broken

Hi guys, been a while.. Finally getting around to working out why the boot won't open on the estate and it appears the latch/lock goes faulty and then needs to be replaced (fairly common thing). Looked around and there must be 100 different parts numbers that claim to be compatible! Everything Seat...

Re: Airbag and gearbox warnings out of nowhere. Battery again?

Coding an existing battery won't fix the issue as the capacity has been degraded since it was fitted. So your best route is getting a new one and coding it from there. Wether you go warranty, or through Tayna is up to you. I bought my Exide AGM from Tayna last year, cheapest i've seen for batteries...

Re: Airbag and gearbox warnings out of nowhere. Battery again?

Hi folks, Long time no post for me, nice to see the place is still here. Car these days is a 2016 190GT DSG and I seem to have a lot of battery woes. Had the car since 2019 and all was well up to winter 2021 when the battery failed. Fair enough, it was the original. Got a new AGM stop/start from Ha...

Re: Tyre pressure system error

Depending on which Tpms system you have will determine a fix. If your system has the ability to see live tyre pressures on the infotainment and/or dashboard, then you have the active system which doesn't measure with ABS. Each wheel has a pressure sensor in the valve stem, reports to an antenna in e...

Re: Adblue Reported Range Remaining

In my early 2020 model Passat the dash display is currently showing remaining range for Adblue as 1700 miles whereas the VW app reports it as 994 miles. Anyone able to explain the difference in these two figures? Go with the Dash reading. Alternatively, just fill it up to remove the warning

Re: Multiple Warning Messages but what is the fault ?

Ask them what system they use for VW diagnostics. It needs looking into a lot deeper. Those warnings you've listed are what i had after i replaced my battery, which is normal. I get the feeling, there's still an issue. Either they've not replaced the battery, OR, your alternator is not charging the ...

Re: Multiple Warning Messages but what is the fault ?

Battery is usually the cause of phantom faults this time of year when the cold affects it. If they've replaced the battery, they will (or should have) coded it so the car knows its been replaced for the battery monitoring system. Its normal to see multiple warnings as soon as the battery is replaced...

Re: 2012 b7 Vibration over 70mph.

Inspect all wheels/tyres.

Front's may well have been replaced and balanced, but the rears need looking at too.

Could be a deformed tyre, missing wheel weight, bearing, etc. All 4 corners need inspecting.

Re: Keyless access system faulty.

If its advising a fault, it would be wise to get fault codes read, as it'll give an indication of whats causing the problem. I'm in the North East with VCDS if you need it looking at I have VCDS myself. The funny thing is it’s not registering fault codes. I'm assuming you've already replaced the ba...

Re: Keyless access system faulty.

Don't be surprised if your dash is lit like a christmas tree after reconnection. This is normal, and most, if not all warnings will disappear once you've driven a mile or two. Things like ACC not available or ABS warnings (these need to re-adapt once the car is moving which is normal). It would be w...

Re: Advice on B7 2013 Passat saloon 2.0TDi Bluemotion requiring new battery and glow plug no. 2 please?

I didn't code a replacement on my old B7, when i looked at what needed doing at the time, apparently the only car that needed coding for battery change around that time was the Phaeton.

If you are in the north east and don't fancy doing the job, i can offer assistance.

Re: Advice on B7 2013 Passat saloon 2.0TDi Bluemotion requiring new battery and glow plug no. 2 please?

I'd go with the Exide AGM. I fitted one to my old B7 in 2019, and its still going. The guy that bought the car from me in 2020 hasn't changed it (i see him on a weekly basis at work). I've fitted an Exide to my B8 a year ago from tayna. I think of all the ones they had listed, the Exide had the high...

Tayna batteries are far cheaper than any other you've mentioned P Adams.

On the B7, its not necessary to code the battery. I did it with my old passat, no issues. Just make sure you replace it for the same type (i.e. AGM).
