Re: Handling issues
First step would be to get a proper suspension alignment check done, using a hunter machine or similar. It's very important that it's done by someone that knows how to use it. For once I would recommend the dealers for this. The rear suspension is susceptible for going out of alignment, generally ha...

Re: induction kit
K&N and similar kits are widely used in motorsport, including rallycross, so any concerns about their efficacy are moot frankly. For one event, or even changed mid event, then binned. That's like fitting super sticky tyres on a road car because if they're good enough for touring cars etc... Thi...

Re: help a fool
OK, I thought for a minute it might not be a Sport, but the roof rails confirm that. Outers (C) is 100% fog lights. Dummy ones have the reflectors, but no hole for the bulb. Your headlight switch will have two fog light positions. Pull out one click for front, two clicks for front and rear. Inners (...

Re: help a fool
DRLs may have been turned off with VCDS or similar. It's a simple tick box to activate them again.
Hang on tho' Captain, according to your sig, you have a Sport, which should have fog lights. Odd question, but what colour are your roof rails?

Re: Home Made Windscreen Wash Fluid
Pre-mixed or ready to use costs about £5 per gallon. Concentrated, which will make about 4-5 gallons still costs £5. Why do people pay for added water?

To Add to that, DRLs are switchable via the Settings menu in the MFD. Foglights are also used for 'static cornering lights'. This is when one fog light comes on at low speeds in the direction that you are turning or indicating when the headlights are on dipped. They can also both come when reverse g...

Re: Had my B5 chipped
Funny old thing not reving out in top gear. My Superchipped V6 TDI would rev out in all gears, except 6th. There is a long downhill stretch of dual carriageway round here, where absolutely anything can get to top speed. With still a good mile of downhill still to go, my Passat just sat there at 4000...

Re: Upgraded my Main Beam bulbs to LED 6000K 160W bulbs...happy with results
Good plan. Bi-xenons are the way to go. Easy to make work as well, as your main beam feed will trigger the shutters. Would you fit LEDs in your main beams so that you'd get an instant flash when the headlights were turned off?

It's a different engine to the Passat and has a torque converter 8 speed auto.
Torque is 420Nm / 310lbft @ 1750rpm.

35 in the summer and about 32 this time of year. 28-29 when towing big things. It's a 2.0 BiTDI 180 Auto.

LEDs in fogs are cack. I've got them in my Amarok to match the xenons, but have rewired them to work with main beam. Not for the extra light, but to look kinds cool (IMO) when I flash.

I wanted one to replace my Leon Cupra when we has 2 kids in pushchairs and all that goes with that. It just wasn't big enough. I happened across a B5.5 V6 TDI next door and bought that instead.

Re: New Passat owner
The 2.0 tends to be more economical at higher speeds and will do mid 50's all day long. Mine did. Expect to see less from a 1.6, other than around town. You ought to be seeing mid to high 40's at this time of year, although with it being especially cold, that will probably drop. Have you checked the...

I like it. It could be seen as an odd colour for a 'Sport', but then the same could be said for my Oak Green Mk2 Golf GTI.

Re: Upgrade Radio and CD Install B5.5
Have you got a radio with a separate cd player either above or below it with the climate control at the bottom? If so, the new double-din radio cage should fit straight in. Very early B5.5s had the B5 layout with the radio at the top, climate in the middle and a cubby at the bottom. This needs a lit...

Re: Passat Alltrack - towing
An online towing checker says your car will tow a maximum of 2200kg with a max nose weight of 90kg. It should be said that a caravan is quite different to tow than a flat trailer, due to it's aerodynamics, so it's best to stick close to with the Caravan clubs 85% caravan/car weight ratio. I used to ...

Why don't you swap the wiper relay for one from a car without Auto wipers and see how you get on for a bit? I'll guarantee that you'll soon want to swap it back.

Re: Wipers stop when stationary!!
It's supposed to do that in Auto mode.
Move the sensitivity switch all the way to the right and they will wipe a bit more when stationary, if it thinks it needs to. There's no need for the wipers to be wiping as often when the car is not moving as there is when going down the road.

RNS510 - Discover Media
Like this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401611397750 I've got a factory RNS510 (no DAB) in my Amarok. Apart from a DAB aerial, is it a straight swap? I'm sure I've seen one in a B6 or 7 on here. How about Bluetooth? I currently have it (factory) so does the new radio have it built in? If so, does t...

Re: RNS 315
RNS510 with DAB will be much more than £50 more than a 315. Does your current radio have DAB? If so, the 315 will plug straight in, as will a RNS510 DAB. You'll need a GPS aerial for both and a mic for the 315 if you want to use Bluetooth. Nav will work, but will need coding if you want the display ...
