Re: Are there any RAT look B5.5's about???

I must either be missing something or getting old as I don't like the look of any of those.

Where did my tyres go?

Just got a phone call from VW that my B6 is ready for collection after its first service and is being treated to a new set of wipers and new front tyres. I've only done just over 8000 miles in the car and managed to work my way through a pair of p-zeros, this either says something about my driving, ...

door card off and then the silver panel behind that. It has a rubber seal running around the rear side of it which can crack and leak water through into the car. It's quite hard to remove as you have to remove the window and the door latch.

Re: Water in my car

If it's coming in through the bottom of the door it's possible the rubber seal on the inside of the inner door skin.

When I removed mine the rubber was perished so never sealed up again properly. Got some dumdum tape from the dealers and replaced the perished section and the leak was sorted.

Re: Drivers Door Lock

Whilst in there it's also worth checking the condition of the rubber seal on the shiny metal door panel, mine had perished over the years and were letting water through after breaking the original seal so had to replace them with some dumdum tape.

Interior rattle

On one of my many drives up to Gloucestershire I finally got fed up with the annoying creak/rattle from my interior and me and my passenger started jabbing/poking at things to find out what it was. Turns out it was the plastic casing for the interior mirror/rain sensor. I moved it from side to side ...

Re: misty windows

Didn't know that as the only B6s I've ever been in have had the climate control.

Sticking mine on demist (which also seems to fire up an electric heater) clears the screen pretty quick but on rainy days it seems to fog up again really quickly after it is turned off.

Re: misty windows

The B6 doesn't have an 'ECON' button (or at lease mine with the 2zone climate control doesn't) it does however have an aircon button and when the light is on the aircon is on.

Re: Continuation of the Porsche 944

I'm always in need of spares. My interior is a bit tatty but got no funds for this car at the moment hence the lack of any real progress, just going through doing the parts I can that don't require me buying new stuff. I rubbed down the front indicator lenses yesterday to get the dodgy black tinting...

Re: Continuation of the Porsche 944

Well I've made myself scarce lately due to being busy and not making any progress on any cars due to lack of funds but now the weather is starting to pick up I thought it was time to start pulling parts of the Porsche again (well it doesn't cost me anything to do) First up was to separate the fuel d...

I'd be careful buying any Passat parts from China as their model is longer and has a few other differences littered around it.

Can someone send me some snow to...pl6 Was driving home from Gloucestershire last night (after the Severn bridge finally re-opened) and drove through some ridiculously snowy areas and came off the M5 onto the A361 and halfway down the snow suddenly disappeared. I thought the missus was making it up...

If you find yourself needing to be towed, pack a screwdriver

So in the snow yesterday it took me about 30 minutes just to dig myself out of a hotel car park in Gloucestershire as the snow height was about the same as the ground clearance on my car. Had to drive past work as the snow was just as deep in the entrance so decided to turn around and come back afte...

Re: Snow

I've just had an interesting morning in the snow. Miles away from home got stuck in the hotel car park, dug it out then got stuck on a hill and had to be towed up by a passing 4x4 (one out of the 4 that drove past).

Needless to say Pirelli P-Zeros are useless in the snow.

I think I'm going to be painting the ones on the Porsche when I strip them down for a rebuild, going to go with black though as I want to keep it nice and subtle.

Very nice, I wanted Xenons on mine but it would've been a 16 week wait for it as there was a massive backlog at the time.

I ended up with heated leather seats instead so not all bad

Re: Hi folks!! nooooobster here

What you need is a 1998 1.8 20v in light blue ;)

On a more serious note the most common fault on these cars is the plenum chamber filling up with water due to blocked drain holes and that water coming in through the cabin filter and killing the CCM/corroding the wiring.

Re: [RECOVERED] Electric Handbrake & AutoHold

My B6 seems to be quite happy releasing the handbrake when I pull off now but I very rarely engage the handbrake unless I am parking the car up and leaving it. If I am just stopping in traffic or at lights I let the auto hold take car of it and it behaves absolutely fine. The only thing that it gets...
