Re: Mr Muscle oven cleaner trick

Hi all, Was wanting to ask anyone else's experience with the Mr Muscle oven cleaner in the turbo trick. My Passat 1.9 AWX is fine, but did do it on my mums Mk4 Golf 1.9 TDI 130ps 6 speed manual - A life of short journeys, and 43k miles from new... since we drove it out the showroom in Hamburg back ...

I know a very good breaker that will post you the right clip but he’s not on here. He’s the main breaker on the U.K. Passat Owners Group on Facebook if your on there. Wayne Burns.

Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

As much as I know we all have different experiences, I’d never advise anyone to touch the bleed nipple when removing/installing the slave from/into the transmission on these. It’s simply unnecessary. I’ve do dozens of clutches on these and have never had to touch one unless changing brake fluid or r...

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Not done anything yet so wont touch the bleed nipple! Did grease the boot yes. I usually find it best to pull it in from the top (remove coolant tank and swing it out of the way) twist it as you pull it in. That said, I’m 6’2 and don’t find reaching it an issue. They are a pain though. I don’t know...

Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Oh Christ.

Don’t touch the bleed nipple.

I’ve done dozens of these if not more and never had to touch the bleed nipple.

Did you read my guide? Have you greased the back portion of the boot? It’ll never go in if you don’t bud.

Re: Minimentals:- Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5D Manual

Looking good. Always loved looking at custom work done on cars. What sort of power approximately you will be getting out of this setup and what it had up to now? And next we want some off-road video with wheels halfway in mud and engine fighting it's way through the mud. :-bd I’m not aiming for muc...

Re: Minimentals:- Jeep Cherokee XJ 2.5D Manual

More mods, though this upgrade is dragging. In summary, Fully mechanical pump swap Bigger VNT turbo upgrade (kettle of fish) including a gigantic front mount and a fair amount of custom fab work. Had to delete the factory bonnet latches to make room for the airbox [emoji1787]. Hopefully will be glor...

Re: Gearbox oil change using top nut

Got my gearbox out at moment. Assume I can use the top opening to put new oil in and wait for it to come out of side filling hole? Side hole looks and bit tight for hose and could drip when filling. Cheers. Both of them are the wrong hole. The level/fill plug is on the diff cover in front of the pa...

Re: Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?

Fusible link should be on the positive cable bud. Only way to tell for sure is see if you have power to the starter main 12v when it’s all connected back up. Or use a multimeter to check continuity between the battery + terminal and starter connection.

Did you change slave in that pic or somehow put push rod back on? Looks like it not there. Did you see my push rod bit came off. Nothing leaking and thought could tape it back up. Bought a replacement though. Customer wanted it changing bud so it was replaced. Not worth dropping the rod in and havi...

Dorset. Was going to do pilot and did get one. Looked too fiddly and could not get a good sight of it under car as not raised high enough. Will ask mobile mechanic if can do, as believe you can do it through the flywheel as I put that on. Cheers. I’m up in Chippenham. You can do it with flywheel on...

No chance getting it back in myself. Just could not do the final shove to mate back up to engine. Faffed around and over did it trying to raise the back up to much and slid jack back under Gearbox. Tipped forward and gave up trying to get back on trolley. Ratchet snapped too. Getting mobile mechani...

Thanks for reply. So if the motor potentially was not earthed when I connected the battery, would it have gone pop? Overheated or something etc which burnt oil on it? I removed it from position while dopping gearbox. I connected battery to get something out boot and that happened. It was a pop so t...
