Re: Part no: 3CO 820 741 AJ help
Search ebay for: 3C0 820 741 AJ Critically, the third digit is the number 0 (zero), NOT the letter O. You can sometimes increase the number of hits by removing the spaces in the part number, in this case making it 3C0820741AJ. There are several used examples and even a full-price new one listed at t...

Re: Possible head or gasket failure
Let me start by saying that I know little about Diesels, and nothing about taxi engines. You said you are losing coolant but have nothing to suggest the mixing of coolant and engine oil, so have concluded it is leaking past the head gasket and into one or more of the combustion chambers. Is that an ...

Re: 2002 1.9tdi sports suspension
I had to replace broken springs on my SEAT recently and could not locate the originals at a sane price, so I opted for *Febi-Bilstein springs ('for cars with sports suspension'), and they seem fine. That said, I have read so many threads here saying that Eibach springs are excellent that I have no r...

Re: door lock actuator/module
One of the many part numbers for the front, left latch on a RHD car is 3B2837015AK if that helps. If you follow the advice from 1.9Tdi you will not go far wrong, but you will be wise to double-check with the seller when you order. There are many reasons for the plethora of part numbers. Obviously th...

Re: Cannot release bonnet
Taking care to not damage the panel / paintwork, try pushing down on the bonnet in the area of the latch, and while you are pushing down, have someone else pull on the bonnet release. As they continue to pull on the bonnet release, see if the bonnet will now lift. Do not pull excessively on the rele...

That cover on the B5/B5.5 is not removable with the key, in the way it is on later cars (B6 onwards).
There are several threads in the B5 & B5.5 forum about his kind of problem, which is usually caused by a defective door latch assembly.

Can you post your engine code here as that is what is used in most cases to identify specific parts.
Also, confirm that yours is a 2008 model.
General opinion here is to avoid Circoli thermostats as they appear to have a shorter life than might be considered ideal.

So if you can find someone who could weld it for you, you would be happy with that?
If so, it might be worth stating your approximate location in case someone here knows of someone there who may be able to assist.
Just a thought.

I do not doubt that for a moment.
Sadly, long gone are the days when VW deserved a reputation for being as loyal to its customers as they were/are to it.
It is now just another, slick and faceless, mega-corporation.

Just spotted this on ebay. I have no idea at all if it will fit your car, so please check with the seller first. The seller is in Lithuania, but apparently the item is in the UK. No need for any concern on your part. The diagram I used is from the parts illustration for, (virtually), all versions of the car, (of that year). If you look closely, (which I grant is not easy give the amount of compression I had to apply to get the file small enough to attach here), you will see ...

Re: Power steering...... again.
A chirping noise is perfectly normal if the steering is held at against the end stop, at full lock (with the engine running). So long as the noise stops when the steering is released from its end stop there is no need for concern, (assuming there are no other symptoms of course). This is from the po...

Re: Brake sensor wiring
The wires in the car's harness are probably made of aluminium, (cheaper than copper), sometimes with a thin copper coating. Aluminium cannot be soldered with ordinary solder, it requires a different flux and alloy, (containing Silver), and a higher temperature than is required of ordinary solder. Yo...

Am I correct in thinking that the wear sensor is only on one side and that you are dealing with the front, left wheel? Re: Need to change steering rack
VW usually differentiate versions of their cars (and the parts required), by way of the engine code, (not the engine number). You will find the code on the engine, but more easily on the PR code sticker which is in or near the spare wheel well, and on the inner front cover of the service record book...
