Rent a car for 3 days or so, speak with the seller, what do they say about you not having a car etc.

Thing is, if you going from CC B6 to Passat B7, you are going to end up with almost the same interior, so unless you get that huge spec comfy one, you throwing yourself into a story that gets boring very quickly. On the other hand, going with Passat B8, you're on to fresh start If it was my decision...
