Same here, looks nothing like my 1.8 non turbo 98 passat. It is where my throtle body is located ?????
What year is your passat & what is the engine code ..... mine is ADR ??

Glad to help a fellow member........ remember to check those drain plugs under the battery every autumn after the leaves have dropped & it should keep your carpets dry !! lol

Check the CCM wiring. I could have been wet for many months b4 you purchased the car, if so the wiring could be very coroded and broken. This happened on mine !

I'm running Audi A4 16" rims & i get between 330 - 400 for a tankfull or between 34-38 mpg.

Just come back from hols in my 1.8 non turbo, did 182 miles, got an average of 35.5 MPG, traveling as around 75-85 MPH with the air com on all the time . :D

I might be intrested...... Just done an oil change & noticed mine has developed a big crack near the rear center screw / fixing. Count me in if the cost is reasonable !

The insurance on my Non - Turbo 1.8 is £ 295 ( full no claims, protected, for me & the mrs). A 1.8 turbo was quoted for me at £ 405. :lol:

A re-map will only get you another 8-12 bhp for about £250.... not good value, you could try a k & n air filter, might get an extra 2-3 bhp or a uprated exaust system 5-10 bhp.... £250-£350 ish. I've got this engine & looked into this many times & keep comming up with the same conclus...

I can recomend The Derv Doctor. He's not done any work on my motor, but has done some work (chip & dump valve ) on a friends car & it was a top job ( a big performance gain) :D
