Re: Very quiet in here, very quiet...

I plan to keep my car as long as possible as even with a possible £2000 scrappage scheme I wouldn't be able to afford a brand new car.

Re: P0401engine code woes

There is no blanking plates attached. I checked all the hoses and they are all fine none clogged up or split. Could it be the valve that activates the egr valve? How could I check this item?

P0401engine code woes

I purchased a Passat 1.9tdi 4motion on a 04 plate in Mar 2017. Since purchase the engine management light has always been on though no power issues and never gone into limp mode. The code returns as p0401 which I thought would be the EGR valve which I replaced 2 days ago and deleted the fault code f...

Insurance shock

I got my car insurance renewal through the post today and was horrified that it had more than doubled. It had gone from £358 per annum to renewal price £850 my eyes nearly popped out my head as I spluttered on my cuppa. Clean license 17yrs no claims etc driving 25yrs. I phoned them and they said the...

Re: The big DIESEL TAX scandal

Even if a scrappage scheme came into play offering £2500 I still wouldn't be able to afford a brand new car. I bought my tdi 4motion have done majority of the work to it runs well yet I know selling it won't being much. Surely it's more cost effective for people to reuse cars rather than car compani...

Re: Brake pad warning light

Yeah thinking it is the wiring rather than anything else as the light went off then a short time later came on and now off again for over half an HR. Will take wheel of and have a look at wiring

Brake pad warning light

When I turn ignition on a warning message "check brake pads" comes on. However I've checked brake pads front and rear and they seem absolutely fine. Is there a wear sensor I need to be aware of ? I've checked brake fluid level that also is fine.

Re: fuel filter

I had the same issue last month where I actually flattened the battery cranking it over. As one member states cranking short bursts works. I placed my battery on charge during full day and night and then refitted. I then just kept cranking on short bursts and it did fire up eventually. I know it sou...

Re: Diesel tax?

I went in Auto trader was looking at another 4motion 1.9tdi and saw that in the performance section road tax was £240 instead of the £170 I paid for the year. The co2 is 178 which falls into £240 annual road tax unless I'm totally reading it wrong
