Re: oil leak back of block somewhere
It's usually this little sod that causes the leaks, good news is you can do it by just removing the cam chain tensioner bolts and lift it up, fiddly but doable, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELRING-Cam-Chain-Tensioner-Gasket-Set-863-590-for-Volkswagen-058-198-217-T2043-/161980360181?hash=item25b6c825f5:...

Re: 1.8 t part number request?
Well 58 sold so I'd think so, my friend at the garage said he'd done a few of them. Not really a big job to do, timing belt off and timing plates etc, crank pulley, then it's only six bolts and the front cover comes off,but I had the sump and there's four bolts I think. Not that you'll have to worry...

Re: Oil filter for the 1.8T engine.
Apparently there is a larger capacity oil filter for the 1.8T Engines. Part # ? There are several different oil filters that fits on the 1.8T Engine, but number 3 is preferred and is most common. 1. = Volkswagen # 074 115 561 2. = Volkswagen # 068 115 561 B 3. = Volkswagen # 068 115 561 F 4. = Volk...

Re: 1.8t oil pressure light
That's brilliant cheers for that! Is there a step by step guide on here, I did a search but would find anything! Have a look at this video, I don't think you'll need to go to these extremes as the Americans tend to use really poo oil in their 1.8t's but it covers a few jobs and pay attention at the...

Yeah I think they do have the plastic impeller but I've used a few of them now with no issues whatsoever as long as they are changed whenever you do a timing belt change you should have no issues Is this make any good, I can't remember what you said about them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291080793992...

Re: Leaving the forum
It seems that the petrol powered cars are falling out of favour for their more frugal diesel cousins and that's a path I refuse to take, what I have learnt about the 1.8t is less and less relevant these days,

Such a shame, surely if you have the replacement injector it has to be worth fittng it, or has the experience been that bad you just want rid?toonmania wrote:I'm not prepared to spend more on it, if someone wants a cheap car needs towing £400

As long as it's off a petrol and manual box NOT automatic, the driveshafts are the same size, auto's and diesels are larger diameter shafts.

Re: Advice on MOT advisory
Thanks for the info. I agree, might as well do all four. I think one of them was done about 2 years back so at least one bolt shouldn't be seized. Should I get 2 new pinch bolts and go get the garage to swap them over so they will be easy to remove and then do the rest of myself? Yeah that's what I...
