Re: V Power

Personally I think that the test quoting only power output is a bit meaningless to most of us most of the time, rightly so "MP£" is more usefull, and more importantly, how well the fuel keeps the combustion tract - in petrol engines at least, that is where the supermarket lower priced fue...

Re: noisy dashboard

Sorry to sound cruel but, "you and the world" want to sort out VAG noisy dashboards.

There used to be some hints/guides about some time back, maybe even on the passatworld (ClubB5) forums.

My current problem is a similar noise coming from within the steering wheel airbag area!

Re: Can't Get the TP off on the Gamma Stereo (B5.5)

I "might" have caused a similar problem with the Gamma in my wife's Polo - when the radio is OFF the two buttons beside the theft led are lit up red! VCDS does not offer any radio fault issues.

Re: Which alloy caps audi to vw

What I did was, after measuring the existing one, take a great interest in any VWs in car parks that look like they could fit (always carry a measuring tape!), once I found the "best fit", I checked the wheel in my parts list, found the part number for the centre trim and ordered one in. A...

Re: When to scrap a B5?

Well, it is frequently said, the B5, B5.5 and Rover/MG 75 cars stand head and shoulders over others as "keepers" - I suppose Superb and A4 should be included in that list. I have lots of friends at work that buy Ford Direct cars and only keep them for 3 or 4 years before replacing them - a...

I think if there fixed ... You cant ????

The four wheel drive cars can be adjusted, the front wheel drive cars, as standard, can't be adjusted.

Re: Nearly lost my legs today - a warning!

I've tended to use 4-off hard plastic wheel wedges on the end that is not being lifted plus 2-off identical trolley jacks on the end being lifted - and not just short chassis ones. A stable pile of wood under each hub whenever a wheel is off, at least use the wood for as long as possible. A guy at w...

There is an adaptor cable that can be bought that picks up the backlight supply going to the original HU and "jumps" it across to ther things like CD PLAYER/CHANGER or, probably this unit. Has it got a place for a small two pin connector on the rear face - if so, then the adaptor cable ass...

Re: B5.5 4motion questions about wheels and suspension.

Yes these Torsen equipped cars really rather having all wheels the same rolling radius, in fact I think VW suggest all tyres same size from same manufacturer and same model - but that will be to keep things as equal as possible. I certainly have always done as suggested and swop front to rear to kee...

I'd guess at that age it will be bulbs, my late 2000 B5 is LED though - and from the spares listing that is to be expected. My wife's Polo 9N 2003MY is still bulbs as I found out when it failed - water leaked in and rusted through the bus bars. I had a look at the bulbs and I seem to remember that t...

Re: Bargain of the century.....

Sounds like a strange car to import from Japan, but maybe it was a good buy when first purchased - normally its only Japan built cars that end up getting sent out for resale in Aus/NZ/UK/ROI. VW must have sold that model until 2004(ish) then, and that seems strange as the Japs will be pretty switche...

They're not all the same otherwise it would be pointless having them if everyone had the same key  Best bet is to get them removed (most tyre fitters can do this) and replace them :) Sent from my Nokia Lumia using Board Express I don't agree, yes they are not all the same, but all the 17 "...

Air con specialist use a sniffer device for finding leaks behind the dash, its like one of the cameras doc use you looking in hard to reach areas :hyst but has a sensor on the end to detect a leak Exactly, that is what proper AC fixers should start with, the trouble with UV dye is all you will see ...

I also did both sides (gaitors only) by just removing the shafts and having the steering at the right place. I take it that you already know how to remove the "dress cover" from the sprayers - just ease up the sprayer against its return spring hold with a couple of fingers and unclip the cover.

One thing you need to remember or understand is, the recirculating flap motor, ie V71, is fitted directly to the recirculating flap that you can see by looking down into the airbox - but it is also connected by a link to another flap (I'd think). My V71 is getting logged as faulty but air temperatur...
