"stop brake fault service manual". Any ideas?

I get three beeps and the above message displayed on the display on a regular basis - every few minutes.

I've just run a VAG-COM scan and it's bought up NO fault codes at all.

Anyone got any suggestions, please?

Re: Hauled by Passat - Nurburgring trip

If you want to stalk through the entire site that's your call.

I don't *think* there's anything scandalous there.

If you want to look at dull photos of not-your-family that's up to you.

Alternatively, just read the article the link points to.

Re: I've cracked my rim!!

18" RS6 rims seem to be very easy to kill. There's a constant stream of posts on the T4 Forum about people trashing them. Thing is big rims + shallow tyre walls = regularly bent rims. My boss has an A2 with 17" rims and he's on his second set as the first set got pretzelled within weeks. I...

Hauled by Passat - Nurburgring trip

Just thought I'd post this up here, as I probably spent slightly more time in my Passat than I did in my Golf on the Nordschleife.

What's it like going to the Nurburgring?

Trip report here

On the way out there:

Re: V6 4 Motion

Unfortunately I don't think the TDI 4mo was available as an auto. My manual is bloody brilliant though. One of the directors here has a Syncro V6 which I found him and that goes like stink and sticks to the road like poo to a blanket.

Extremely competent and talented cars IMO.

oohh the cardinal sin... racing in the tow/support vehicle... Wasn't :P It was just a quiet drive in the counrtyside on a one way derestricted toll road. If they'd been letting bikes on, or almost everyone who was there HADN'T been sitting around in the car park because it looked like it might driz...

Re: Towing with my passat

OK, so I wasn't 100% on the Bosal towbar going on - the wiring issue had rather clouded my mind at that point. I doubt the issue would be the same on a 2WD car, but to bolt-down the front-most pair of bolts you would need to drop the complete exhaust on the 130 TDI 4motion. For those who don't know,...

Re: TDI PD130 won't start - help!

This is the wrong way around: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/PassatOnTrailer.jpg That was not supposed to happen on the day after I bought the trailer to move old VWs around. Quick update - the ECU control 'module' (let's face it, it's a relay) was replaced by Vee W Services and ...

Re: Towing with my passat

Well the Bosal detatchable bar went on a treat. No problems there. Instead of putting the horrid, nasty cheap wiring kit supplied by Towequipe on the car - using Scotchlocks *spits* I thought I'd buy a posh VW Genuine plug and play wiring kit. What a hideous mistake that turned out to be - beating d...

Re: TDI PD130 won't start - help!

Thanks very much for the pointer - I called the garage I dropped it off at and they said exactly the same and pulled a code saying no power to ECU. Relay now being replaced and we'll see what the situation is when I pick it up in a little while.

Re: TDI PD130 won't start - help!

OK, now it's started, after I'd cycled to a mate at work in central Bristol, collected his keys, gone to his house, taken his T25 Syncro, bought it to mine and put the trailer on the back of it. So I slung it on the trailer and it's now with Vee W Services in Bedminster, who are going to try and pul...

TDI PD130 won't start - help!

My Passat's done this a couple of times now - turn key, everything lights up, except the glowplugs light. Try starting engine and it just spins over - there's nothing there and it steadfastly refuses to start. Go back a bit later and turn the key and it powers up as if nothing has happened. I did ge...

Re: Towing with my passat

How easy is the bumper to remove from the Estate?

I've just hopefully downloaded the 'instructions' for my Westfalia towbar which says:
Take rear bumper of vehicle.
Not terribly clear!

Any assistance gratefully received!

Re: Me vs GSF

I think this thread has made one thing quite clear - it's not the company's that are rubbish, it's the staff who are (sometimes) rubbish. People's opinions of a whole national chain can sometimes be based on one person. I'd rather use GSF in Bristol rather than EuroCan'tParts, which is opposite wher...

It's really low - ET35 IIRC - I tried my parent's Leon rims on it (ET44) and they were pinched WAAAY in.

I was considering using them for a re-map.

Those pedals are for brake and clutch, so that shouldn't have any bearing on those two covers.

Servicing prices and experiences?

Although I do the work on my older and project vehicles, the daily gets professional attention. So, I thought I'd post to say on my TDI 130 I got oil, and all filters changed at Vee W Services (0117 966 8959) in Bedminster, Bristol today - £130 + VAT for the service (and service meter reset, obviou...

Re: CV BOOT/JOINT

If you're doing the job yourself and the B5 boots use the metal clamps then I'd recommend spending under £15 in GSF to get a set of boot clamp pliers - clamp 'em up properly. If they don't use metal clamps then don't do it - sorry I'm obsessed with mine, maybe it's cos I run SYncros and 4Motions an...
