Just been to the shops, pulled up at the traffic lights and thought what's that smell, assumed it wasn't my car!
Got home to find the front passenger side disc is quite blue looking and very hot!
I assume it's seized?

Re: A/C issue
Yeah highline here as well! I'm not sure if there is a way of testing if the compressor is weak. It's so slow to get cold it's pants! You jump in other cars and the air con is freezing!

A/C issue
Hi My air con on my passat has never been great. I had a sensor replaced in the compressor and a regas about 2 years ago, it worked better but not amazing! I have the bog standard 3 dial a/c. I've noticed both rad fans work but according to vcds, never at 100%, maybe normal. The compressor isn't the...

2.0tdi cr cutting out when driving
Hi, a few times yesterday my engine died whilst driving but started straight back up again. I got the following codes. I assume the fuel sensors are at fault and nothing else. The car has felt slightly juddery under partial load. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200804/bd9ef72244eb327a6f83c529b1bc...

Detect bad injector?
Maybe once a month my car will idle like a bag of spanners, more so when cold, the engine shakes and clatters which I can only assume is it misfiring. (2.0 tdi cr CBAB) It might do this for two days, then all of all sudden it runs fine, idles OK! When it's not idling OK, once past maybe 1600rpm it s...

Rear brake pad life?
Just curious as to what kind of mileage people are getting out of there rear pads. Pretty sure nine are very low again and I've only done around 15k. I do drive my tank hard and times and often brake very late but never expected to be doing 2 sets of rears to one front ratio! Sent from my SM-G960F u...

Re: Soaking wet drivers footwell
I've soaked my car today with the jet wash, I've spent about a minute on each rubber Window seal blasting out the crud and the water drips fine out the hole at the bottom of the door. Beginning to think it was just the blocked drain holes under the wiper panel and I never noticed it! Sent from my SM...

Where to buy vw parts other than Stealers
My local TPS is now trade only for parts and I don't fancy going to my local VW main dealer. Does anyone know if there is a good online vw parts site these days? Years ago when I was running vauxhalls I could find loads of online parts websites but yet to find a decent vw one. Sent from my SM-G960F ...

On standstill, they don't rev past 3000rpm. It's not a fault but a feature.

Soaking wet drivers footwell
Bloody cars! I've noticed recently that my b6 drivers side front foot well is very wet! 2 weeks ago I noticed that under the wiper motors, the drain holes were blocked so assumed it was that. But my carpet is still soaking wet. I know I've got a boot leak on my saloon boot seals, I've got some on or...

Aftermarket radio rubbish reception
Does anyone know if a booster is required to power the rear antenna on my saloon, if an after market radio is fitted? The radio reception is shocking, might get 1 local station. I've checked all the cables, replaced the rear Window antenna, still the same problem. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G960F using...

Re: Back box replacement
Thanks peeps, was a pig doing it jacked up on the floor, had to cut about 8 inches off the back section to get it out, even that wasn't easy! Once out, cut a bit more off to the required length and put on the new back box. Got one from abroad, seems half decent but after market exhausts never last a...

Back box replacement
Hey! My exhaust has broken off on the weld where it joins the back box. I've since noticed that with it being an original, I can't see any joins until the middle of the car, so the back box and pipe also includes the centre box, which is very long! All replacement back boxes seem to just have a shor...

Lost convenience menu in MFD
Hi, basically when I remove my car key the doors usually unlock, but only the drivers side does now!
I've been into the mfd and lost the convenience menu which obviously is used to program door unlocking etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: New Android unit, poor reception
Had a go at testing the power to the rear Window antenna and it's getting 12 volts so it's got power. I bought a second hand antenna or amplifier for the rear Window and the reception is still the same. I have tried having the am and fm wires connected, no different. The reception gets worse with my...

Backing plate with rear pads?
Hi, just got some new rear pads for my passat, mintex ones but they come with 4 metal backing plates about 1.5mm thick, pretty sure I don't have this setup at the moment. They are loose in the box and obviously the same profile and the pads. I assume they go between the metal part of the pad and the...

Fitting near rear epb motor, tips after breaking new one!
Hello, any tips for fitting a new epb motor? I managed to snap one of the fitting points off my new one as it was tight on the new o ring. I noticed some corrosion on the recess for the o ring so the diameter was bigger but even after cleaning it up and seeing if would fit it still wouldn't slide on...

How to replace handbrake motor?
Hi, I have to fit a new handbrake motor for one of my calipers, I also have vcds. I'm currently not using the handbrake as the old motor has been removed. Handbrake stuck on
Hi, had the handbrake warning light come up! Got out the car and one of the motors was still running for about ten seconds or so, and one caliper is stuck on!
Is there a fix to see me thru for a few days until I can fix it, thanks.

Re: Sport estate suspension
I might be wrong but I'm not sure if you can purchase a stiffer spring, maybe listed as heavy duty for people who use the vehicle to tow.
