Re: Newbie - Some Questions (2.8 V6 4Motion)
Hey, New member and just bought a 2002 2.8 V6 4Motion Saloon. Hoping some experts on here might be able to help me out with some questions. Firstly, the OEM stereo is not working, the dealer said they removed the battery and put in a new one and since then it hasn't worked. I checked fuse 37 in the...

It's my wife's car that causing the problem, a 2.0 8v matebenn5150 wrote:Is it a 1.8t ? If so you may have the sludge issue which can block up the sump & possibly oil pump. I had the same problem on my last 1.8t oil level was fine same warning message. Turned out oil wasn't getting to the top of the engine

Intake temp wrong?
Hi folks, new problem! Plugged my OBD reader into my (1.8t 2001 plate) just to see if there was any faults that were stored in the ecu, there wasn't thankfully, but I noticed something else, in the raw data, it was showing that the intake temp was 18 degrees C. The car was stone cold and the outside...

I'm not sure if there is water ingress yet, I just heard that that could cause these issues...steviemac wrote:Water ingress around the glovebox area may well be the gasket on the pollen filter, under the scuttle cover in the engine bay

Re: New car!
Bonnet switch? Interesting, would that not make to dash warning show telling me the bonnet was open, or am I being thick? I'll have a look buddy, cheers!

Hi folks, I've gone and bought a new B5.5 for the wife to replace her old Picasso, it's almost the same age and exactly the same colour, the neighbours are going to think we are mad! Anyway, it has a couple of issues that Id like to deal with quickly: The "STOP, oil press" light, along wit...

I wonder whether it could be the oil pump? As it seems to come from IN the engine, not around it>!

Re: 2004 Passat 2.0 20v
Always makes me wonder if people expect a car with it 1000's of parts all to work forever and none of them fail? No, I don't think people do, people do, however, expect their VWs to last longer or at least as long as other "less prestigious" marques. As I said in my last post, I owned a P...

Re: Bluetooth Stereo HELP
Pioneer are troublesome mind, loads of IC problems as well as earth track faults and general crappy build quality (writing wearing off buttons and collapsing release mechanisms etc). I work with car audio for a living so I see all brands day by day!

One design/quality flaw after another, these VWs certainly aint the quality cars I once thought they were!! My Peugeot 406 was trouble free after double the mileage these Passat struggle to acheive!

if it was your gearbox it wouldnt do it with the clutch in and in neutral. try listening to the things i said, im sure you will pinpoint it if you pop the bonnet, I hope it isn't the box!! I remember hearing an identical sound coming from 80s and 90s Golfs and Polos when they were getting tired (us...

Re: Strange whining...
Just done a bit of research on this and think it may be something different, my sound is almost like a gearbox style while when the engine is running, not a rattle or a grind as such... hmmm
