Sorry forgot to answer you Chris..... Erm I'm thinking pretty low is in order... I'm even considering air at the moment so I have the best of both worlds and to preserve the car as I'm planning on keeping it for a fair while.

Re: What happened was.....

Yea the one in my signature pic is the one I've just sold.

Although I still have the wheels and most of the audio which may appear in this one although I'm not sure if the wheels will suit a b6.

What happened was.....

Picture the scene.... I've just recently sold my much loved wagon wanting a discovery 3. I find one locally just within budget (a stretched one) and then I happen upon a rather nice looking passat estate (b6). Looked quite smart one owner car direct from a lease. Well long and short is I took it for...

Re: what MPG are you getting

The other day I travelled from near Sheffield to Lancaster which is 120 miles and I got 43mpg on the way there and 42mpg on the way back. My car is a Auto 1.9TDI 130 but i have had it re-mapped. As soon as I hit the motorway I put the cruise control on and never had to drop out of top gear. It had ...

Re: Yet another Suspension question....... please help......

With any coilover regardless of cost, if you grease the threads before fitting and then regrease them a couple of times a year they shouldn't seize. I've had my rokkors on the car for about 6months now and they're as easy to adjust now as they were when i bought them (had to raise the front 3" for t...

Re: Sh*t, just bought these

Look nice. shame they're 17s not 18s but still nice all the same.

If you've got a B5.5 then you could easily run 15-20mm spacers with no issues. Possibly even 25s and still be within the wheel arches (i.e. no poke).

Any of those will be fine for road use. 6k is what big bmws and merc use and have a slight blue tint.

5k is the purest White light and also the brightest.

If you search on google it will show you the different colours per kelvin rating.

Re: another alloy wheels fitment Q

normal VW offsets are between 35-43ish.

personally i'd stick some 10mm spacers on there to make it look a bit better too :D and the added bonus that 10mm spacers can be hubcentric to prevent wheel wobble from ill fitting spacers.

Re: wheel width

8x18" et43 should fit fine. you could comfortably space them to get a better stance too.

245 tyres are huge so you may want to consider some 225/40s

yea no problem. most replacements i have seen and the last two sets my friend has tried have been steel bars(well tube) with a turnbuckle type system (like you see on some strutbraces with locking nuts) and then spherical bearings on each end.. this makes the ride slightly firmer but a small price t...

Re: Sorting out camber...

i'll be interested dependent on design. Have looked at a few on the market and a friend with an RS4 has tried a few different versions that are currently on the market and so far all have failed withing 6-9months (expensive to replace/repair too) so he's gone back to just replacing tyres as and when...

225/45 17s should be perfect! :D

And a popular size so should be sensibly priced.
