Vr6 help!
I've got a thread on the B3/B4 page. Link copied. http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=89244 Fitted an obd2 vr6 from a 1997 Golf. Got everything connected but I have one issue. There could be more related but this is a vid from this morning. https://youtu.be/4uQg74byng8 There's m...

Re: Vr6 conversion help
From this morning.

Once it starts is runs really well. The golf I pulled the engine from started perfectly. Never drove the golf as it was off the road when I bought it but it didn't have any starting issues.

Re: Vr6 conversion help
Well it's been a few months since my last post. Progress has been slow, grabbing a few minutes here and there but the VR6 is finally in. I've used the complete obd2 golf loom. Got the relevant light connectors changed over, used b4 vr6 clocks, sorted out the rest of the wiring and immobiliser. Now t...

Re: Passat GT body arches and kit
Would you split the kit from the spoiler as I don't need the spoiler. Let me know your best price and I'll have the body kit off you.

Re: Vr6 conversion help
Thanks again Roger. Another question answered. I'm sure there will be loads more!!! I arranged for the donor 1997 VR6 Golf to be picked up and delivered to me on Monday. It failed it's MOT last year and needed welding to its floor pan. It was subsequently SORN in March 2016. Since then it's been sta...

Re: Vr6 conversion help
Fantastic Billy, thanks. Just bought a set of 160mph clocks of eBay, so that's another thing ticked off. Are you leaving the original track or going for the 5 stud wide track conversion? If you are staying standard are you upgrading your brakes? You've said that your ecu has had the immobiliser remo...

Re: Vr6 conversion help
That's great, same here. Been on about doing the conversion for years but always put it off. I found a mk3 vr6 golf on eBay that needed a huge amount of welding for the mot but is mechanically sound to use as a donor. Always loved the sound of the vr. Found a b4 sub frame from eBay too so that shoul...

Re: Vr6 conversion help
Cheers for the input Roger. I know I need the suitable rear subframe from a Passat as the Golf one is a little to short. I bought a B4 one off eBay. What about the front mount? Is this in the same position for both engines? So my existing 'box won't match the vr6 engine but as I'm getting a donor ca...

Vr6 conversion help
Hi Guys, Some help needed. I'm going to replace the original 1800cc in my 1989 b3 Passat with a 2.8vr6 from a 1996 mk3 golf. I've bought the donor car which is complete. Could anyone tell me what I'll need from the golf and what else would I have to get in order to complete the conversion. Could I u...

Re: My 1989 B3
Cheers for all the nice comments guys. The weather was perfect for cleaning the car today, sunny but still cool. Managed to give the Passat a goon going over. Didn't have time to hover the inside though. Need to do the beetle next. Changed the oil and filter and replaced the original lambda sensor t...

Possible Lambda Sensor problem?
I've got a small problem with my 1989 B3 1.8 petrol Passat. The exhaust fumes are really really smelly. Even the kids noticed this morning when I dropped them off at school. Its been happening for quite a while but I just cant work out what may be causing this. I've checked all vacuum hoses and they...

Re: powder coating midlands?
Try 1st class alloys in Lichfield. I know it looks like they only refurbish and powder coat alloy wheels but Paul has an in house shot blaster and will powder coat virtually anything. Tell him Andy with the classic beetle sent you. He's done 2 sets of wheels for me and when I picked up the last set ...

My 1989 B3
Hi guys, been a registered member for a while now but I haven't until today formally introduced my B3. Its a 1989 registered car that my dad bought from new. Yep, he's owned this for 24 years and it's covered just 75,000 miles. 0 previous owners on the log book. He's owned various other cars since h...
