BBS RK2 Split Rims look any good on a B6 passat?
Hi All I have a lovely referbished set of RK2 split rims on my T4 and i'm contemplating fitting them to the passat. The only problem i have is the fact they are only 17" and might be a little bit small for the B6. Has anyone done the euro look lowered on 17's on a passat B6 and has anyone got a...

Re: Car Failed MOT :-(
Well thats the MOT done for another year! Anyone who says the control arm bushes are easy to change is a liar, mine were stuck fast on the end of the control arm and i had to break out the coal hammer to get enough force behind them to remove them. Installation was just as bad but creative use of a ...

So the issue of the key not opening the door due to it not being connected mechanically still exists, not much of a fix because the same thing can happen again!Schbrenk wrote:dealer replaced battery foc .now trying to stop this happening in the future .

Re: Any 100 mm hex key balancer shaft failures ?
There are engineers out there that state removing the balancer unit leads to increased torsional forces on the crankshafts that the unit is designed to suppress. These increased forces can contribute to excess clutch, DMF and gearbox wear in both manual and DSG equipped cars. Just something to be a...

Re: Any 100 mm hex key balancer shaft failures ?
This is exactly the reason I will be throwing the whole balance shaft module in the bin and be fitting a stand alone oil pump with a new windage tray in the sump. Apparently the throttle response and power is marginally better taking this route too. AW Engineering supply a kit and when I last enqui...

Re: Car Failed MOT :-(
If you intend to keep it put poly bushes in it, £60 for the pair but puts an end to front tyres wearing on the inside and better motorway driving especially when it's windy, I' changed my Touran and my Jetta ones and the Passat is going to get done soon. I looked but couldn't find anything which c...

Re: Car Failed MOT :-(
I've had both those failures on MOTs too - common items I think. It's not difficult to change just the rear control arm bushes on the front. Interesting talking to VW earlier, they don't supply the bushes on their own without the 3 bolt bracket. Are they a fairly standard diameter? According to mos...

Car Failed MOT :-(
Well that's more work needed to keep the car on the road although not as bad as it could have been. She needs 2x Front control arm rear bushes and 2x rear ARB drop links. I'm sure the rear drop links wont be too much of a problem but does anyone have any ideas how difficult the control arm bushes ar...

Re: 170 SEL TDI DSG - Issue
Hi All Hoping someone can advise on a issue my car has recently developed. I bought the car roughly about 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks in, a msg about engine workshop pops up on the dash. I get it checked out and the crankshaft sensor is the culprit so that gets replaced. However, couple weeks on and the s...

Re: The run up to tighter DPF laws
Comments are interesting reading at the bottom of the page with most against the DPF filters. We all know DPF filters are just masking the problem at the expense of the motorist. If the government really want people out of diesel cars they need to introduce some king of incentive such as scrappage a...

Re: EGR removal on B6 passat
You need to release the pipe from the manifold to get it out. Not an easy job to do compared with older models. Mines been mapped out along with the dpf and it's running well with no manifold clogging, better still after rebuild with a new head and manifold cleaned. Since clean rebuild it hasn't had...

I was in a similar position with my B6 with both front speakers going within 3 weeks of each other. I opted for the Alpine components with the seperate crossover and whilst the sound is good, the tweets are too small and distort with powerful focals. I wish i had stuck with Infinity as both the Refe...

Output is pretty good as standard bud. The only way to know if you have the Monsoon amp is to try and find it. Is yours Estate or Saloon? I believe in the estate it is situated in the boot behind one of the access covers.

Re: Replacing Alternator clutch pully and tensioner
To remove the alternator you need to remove the visco fan and viscous coupling (or to have incredibly nimble and small hands to saw the lower bolt in half and then replace it from the other side) and for that you need to pull the front into service position. Ooops, forgot the engine in the B5.5 is ...

Failing that disconnect the battery and remove the alternator and fit on the bench, that's how i have always done mine.
