Re: PD130 setup for towing/AWD

If it´s linked to the engine managment in my04 a4´s i guess the only way to make it work would be to figure out how to make it work standalone, since the passat wiring harness as no provision for electric fan. I´ve been looking trough photos online and even the "snout" mount is diferent on my04, i ...

Re: jealousy?

I had a Passat B5.5 estate. Then I got an A6 Avant, I didn't like it. Then it got rear ended and written off. Then I got another Passat B5.5 estate and still have it, eight years later and won't be getting rid until it is either taxed or legislated off the road..... or heaven forbid gets written off...

Hope they are not bringing out lip reading cameras?

Because I shout at and call many people a c**t, even on a short journey. It helps me relax.

On OE Lemforder items you used to see where Lemforder ground off the VW part numbers and logo.

They also would have 'Lemforder' cast onto them.

I'd say they are non OE.

Re: Control arms

It is pot luck really. I've fitted two sets of arms to my car. First set were Febi, my logic being that they were not cheap cheap but not top end expensive and from a known name. After about 18 months I had two top arm balljoints start to fail, knocking and chattering with some freeplay. Second set ...

Re: Estate exhaust

I think it is the first instance I've heard about (on here) of a B5.5 TDI exhaust itself failing. The flexies up front fail though.

Diesel exhaust gases apparently are dry hence nothing to rot it out from inside.

I wonder if ad-blue modern diesels will suffer more?

Re: My B5.5 and I.. In it for the long haul...

Going right back to basics, what are cold start coolant, fuel and air temps showing on VCDS ? I've also found many a problem on the diesels I've had (my PD's and the 180k driven in them have been ok) to be caused by air ingress and that the engine has to bleed itself on a cold start. On older cars t...

Gutted that you are still having issues. Some nice plans made, are you going to join the Eibach and B4 club? Also, if you find a lock maker where they actually work, let us know. I've got two cheapies on mine which don't feed the CCM with the lock status, they show as always locked (although they op...

Re: A/C condenser recommendation ?

Shame the pics are gone on page 8 , bloody photofu... On my thread? Doing the A/C rad rec/dryer is a doddle once the bumper is off. The only place you may need to get creative is mounting the rad, cable ties can easily take care of that. It is critical to wet the NEW 'o' rings with PAG46 oil when a...

A quick look here...

https://www.autoairconparts.co.uk/shopb ... ic-3372792

Rad = £72
Rec/dryer = £17

Not Nissens but will still do the job. The PAG46 oil should be about £10 for a little bottle and the ring pieces from VAG <£15

Re: A/C condenser recommendation ?

I bought a Nissens (which are OE+ quality) rad but cannot remember where from, but wasn't a fortune. It is quite east to measure once you pop the front grill off (you don't even need to fully remove the grill.) Also don't forget to get some nice new purple 'o' ring pieces from VW, only a few quid. Re: CTS and thermostat change OK. Still heating problem ...?

If further bleeding doesn't yield any results then there are three things; 1, Head gasket, when they go on the PD TDI mostly they fail from a piston bore into a coolant passage massively pressurising the coolant system and stalling the circulation. This was common on the earlier 115hp PD TDI's but r...

You are all heathens. Go indoors and get the Mrs best colander, use that first to get the big lumps out, like big stones, baked beans and bits of twig. Go back indoors and get your Mrs best baking sieve, use that second to get the smaller lumps out, like sand and lentils. Go back indoors again and t...

Do a bit of reading up on 's' curve and or 'toe' curve, can make a huge difference to the way these cars handle. The B5.5 has height adjustable track rod ends, there is about 10mm vertical adjustment. However getting anywhere to even know this let alone adjust them is virtually impossible. Main deal...

Although the belt runs all the time when in "Econ" the compressor is not under load and the compressor pulley is free running and the belt has little or no work to do. When the compressor is under load the belt has to earn its living! The A/C belt and tensioner are not difficult to do but getting to...

I've heard of the odd case where the lock panel (the front end) / crash bar has the odd loose bolt or two causing an impossible to trace knock.

Has the front end been out / in the service position since you have had the car?
