Re: Mk4 golf seats
I tried fitting a set of mk4 Golf Recaros in my B3 years ago. I got as far as adapting the rear legs to fit the runners, which from memory was just a case of unbolting the rollers and changing them around somehow. I think the width between the legs was the same. What stopped me was the hump in the f...

Re: Audi A6 (C5) / Passat (B5) water in footwell
It would appear to be the A/C condensate drain that has become blocked. Any clues on how to unblock it? I've seen compressed air suggested, but I don't have a compressor!

Re: Audi A6 (C5) / Passat (B5) water in footwell
I'll try the heater - if it doesn't blow hot could it be the matrix?
No sunroof on this one luckily.
Will check the screen washer connection too, I presume you mean where the line comes off the tank? It did seem to work just fine the other day though.
Thanks guys! Will report back.

Audi A6 (C5) / Passat (B5) water in footwell
I have a 2000 Audi A6 (type C5) - which apparently is very similar to the Passat B5. I have water in the front and rear footwells but only on the passenger side. Tonight I took out the battery tray and checked the drain holes. The one right under the battery has already had the bung taken out, and w...

Re: Filling In The Nose Cone Badge Hole
When I first smoothed my frontmaske, I considered using a fog light as an intake. By that I mean cut the hole out of the bumper as if you were going to put the light in, then fit the fog light surround, possibly with some kind of duct attached to the back of it. I have a spare fog light surround whi...

Quick part number check please!
I've been given part number 026 145 271 by my local VW dealer as a replacement power steering belt for my '91 Passat 2.0 (2E). Is this the right one for my car?

Help! My guages stopped working!
I had my guages out today to change the nasty blue film I put in there years ago for the original green stuff. Easy enough I thought. But now everything is back together, nothing works - guages, indicator flasher thingies, LED's... Only the back lighting works when you turn the headlights on. Oh, an...

Re: B3 Sub Machine Gun Case
I tried to order one of these from VW a few years ago. Bloke looked at me strange and tried to charge me something in the region of £1,400 for it, with the proviso that if I did order it, it would almost certainly never appear. It wasn't a gamble I was willing to take. Got to be the ultimate 35i pa...

Re: Water, water everywhere.......
Yes all models have the holes for the roof rails. As I have found out though, I don't think it was those holes causing the problem, on mine it's the roof seam welds. Could be this on yours too? It's unlikely to be the rear screen wash pipe. They tend to come off the motor inside the tailgate. As lon...

Re: Water, water everywhere.......
A little update on my car. I removed the roof rails, and fitted brand new genuine plugs in the holes. Still the water came in! I dropped the headliner and watched the water come in while my Dad hosed the car. The water was definitely coming in above the doors. This means it can only be one thing - s...

Correct. The mountings are bolted through the roof with 13mm bolts. The rails bolt to the mountings with the small allen bolt.J-WAGEN wrote:Doesn't the 5mm allen bolt just hold the bars onto its "feet" if you like?... then the feet are bolted through the roof?

Re: Water, water everywhere.......
Interesting thread... My '91 estate is absolutely swimming in water. I posted on here about it a while ago and people suggested door membranes, door seals, bulkhead drain holes, heater seal etc... The other day I moved the car for the first time in months, and as I trundled down the driveway and bra...

Re: alternative rear speaker set up in a B3?
The legend of my parcel shelf lives on!!! It does take a fair bit of time to build one but I think it is the best solution for mounting bigger speakers in the rear. Another good idea as mentioned above is a removable sub and speaker box in one. It could be made the full width between the suspension ...

Re: L, CL, GL etc...
Oh, and another - GL and GT had black stripes across the side repeaters. For why, I don't know. But it must be good because the L and CL didn't have this feature.
Clear front indicators are another GL and GT spec part.

Here's a nerdy spec fact for you. GL spec includes a drop down flap on the under-dash tray below the glove box. It's the height of luxury.

Re: B3 Knocking rear suspension??
My rear suspension was clonking a while ago. I sent it in to have the beam bushes replaced. It still did it. I raised the rear end a touch and it stopped. It was just too low and the beam was hitting the exhaust.
I think I might check my coilies though and check these parts haven't worn as well!
