Re: B3 REGISTER
B3's (also known as 35i) were from 1988-1993ish I think so don't think an 03 falls into that categorybobkelly23 wrote:Hi how do i know if my car is a B3 its an 03 1.9 tdi

Re: MOT question
I suppose it's a good thing of sorts here in Spain as the ITV (spanish mot) is done at dedicated centres which are not garages at all, all they do is tests. Completely cuts out the mode of how do we make this add up to more work/money for the garage kinda thing.

Re: B3 1.6td breaking - coilvers, alloys engine anything yo
I know you'd rather collection but I've moved to spain and finding b3 wagons here is pretty hard, I'm after a tailgate and rear bumper. Don't suppose you could find out how much it would cost to ship it to me ?

Re: MPG display
I think it's possible but you'd need the new dash cluster and stalk controls. There's a bit about it on TDIclub forums for a newer passat, maybe an idea to ask there.

Re: Using a b4 tailgate with b3 lights
I trial fitted a b4 estate tailgate on my B3 a while back but it wasn't a perfect fit around the area where it closes next to the rear lights. I'm sure I put a pic in my thread when I tried it.

Pictures of said issue.
A bit more rust showing through now, seems to have had some of that inhibitor paint on it before.

right, car's been here a few months now and eventually got round to getting it matriculated onto spanish plates. Re: b3-b4 estate mpg??
I know the mk3 golf gti was a bit of a tubby so maybe quite close in weight to the B3. Don't know much about the 2E engine but can safely say I'd never see anything near 48mpg in my old mk3 gti haha, even 41mpg on a motorway was a pipe dream

Re: b3-b4 estate mpg??
over 50mpg in a 2l 8V ? I think thats the same AGG engine the mk3 golf gti has and I never got anything near that and only ever had 40 odd when crawling home as I thought I'd run out of fuel. Can't see how the same engine would give that kind of performance in a heavier car.

Re: Jogorts 93' B3 Estate VR6
Well after just over 1800 miles with a fully loaded car and trailer I arrived at my new house in Spain on the 3rd day of driving. That was now over 2 weeks ago (still waiting to get internet on there) and so now it's back to work in the uk for another 3 weeks. So on the Saturday morning I wave goodb...

Re: Jogorts 93' B3 Estate VR6
Right, so I took the plunge and found a B4 rear bumper for £30 from a local breaker and upon viewing it the rebar and legs were in fairly rust free condition. I gave them a scrub down though and a coating of tetroseal underseal, that stuff is awesome :) Some pics of the offending brittleboned bumpe...
