Re: Want to upgrade my screen
As far as I know it's just buy a screen and the new surround (probably best getting surround at a dealer unless you're lucky enough to find a used one in the same colour). There's a few threads on Golf Mk7 forums of people doing the same. Same unit as the Passat. That assumes your unit is an MIB2 (...

Re: 2008 B6 turn off problem
Sorry to re-open this 2 years later, but i figured out what was causing the issue! After changing the Steering module the issue re-occurred months later. After some diagnosis by trial and error, it was one of the relays on the CECM module above the pedals. (large grey relay, think it has '49' or som...

Re: Folding mirros from remote
Yes it is possible with the correct door modules. My B6 now has this functionality and i am using the older HEX-CAN vcds interface.
You will need to hold the lock button down for a couple of seconds on some cars. Mine included.

Re: sat nav
Hi Terry, Is it the RNS510 you have? Earlier firmware versions partition the hard drive differently to the later versions - this can cause issues with people believing the newer map discs are not working, when in fact the size of the hard drive partition isn't large enough for the new maps. I'm not ...

Re: Problems with infotainment
Is yours the 'Discover' navigation screen with the 6.5" matte or the 8" glossy screen? (MIB2) There was a software update recall on those at the dealer - my friend's B8 Bluetooth and Nav died and wouldn't recognise the SD card or anything. Got it fixed for free by the latest firmware updat...

Re: Dash cluster upgrades
Are you able to post a picture of how your dash currently looks? The wheel is do-able but not cheap, and a colour instrument cluster (it's not a full LCD display, but the middle section is) can also be fitted (again cost is not cheap). Done both of these on my car over the years and it does feel a mu...

App-Connect USB location - on 2016 CC
Hi guys, I have a 2007 Passat Estate that i've just fitted an MIB2 (Discover Media) head unit into. I'm looking at putting the Apple Carplay / Android Auto enabled USB faceplate into the armrest, but the faceplate is too large for the aux-in 'hump' in the armrest of the later B6 cars. The CC's came ...

Just a quick update that this is still working with no problems. So good news for others with this issue, the EEPROM data appears to be OK, it's the hardware that goes faulty by the looks of it

Re: Disable front PDC, keep rear?
I retrofitted front and rear PDC on my car about 10 years ago and the loom that came with it located the PDC module in the boot behind the wheel arch trim panel. If the bumper you've got it a factory VW one, it will have PDC hole locations stamped into it on the reverse side, so you could use a step...

Re: Steering lock fault - round two!
Sorry for the late reply I need both units off the car to clone the immo data Hi buddy - good news. I did some digging as i hadn't heard anything and bought myself a 'Carprog' EEPROM device. As i'm from an IT background (infrastructure engineer) i thought 'how hard can it be....' Just sat down with...

Re: Steering lock fault - round two!
You can get a ccm for £20-30. Bring it to me and we can give it a go, nothing to lose at this point, and I’m confident it will clear up your issue Hi buddy, new (to me) CCM arrived this week. Same part number (433R) but from a later 2009 car with hopefully slightly later revision components on the ...

Amazing thankyou. I've ordered one off the bay so I'll give you a shout once it arrives. What's the rough cost for doing that?Rhinopower wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 10:19 pm You can get a ccm for £20-30. Re: Steering lock fault - round two!
I can clone the immo data alone from the old ccm to another replacement. No special tools are required apart from my eeprom programmer Thank-you for the quick reply! Will that not clone the 'broken/corrupted' data to the new part though? The CCM is revision 433R which i believe is a fairly late one...

I have seen this done - i believe with some coding it is a straight swap. I may be mistaken but i think another user on this forum did exactly that!

Steering lock fault - round two!
Hi all, I had the dreaded 'steering lock fault' error message appear on the MFD a few months ago. I replaced the steering lock itself for a brand new part and had it coded in at the VW dealer. Now the issue has come back! Having done a bit of research, it appears the EEPROM on the CCM module is corr...

Those brands are pretty similar in quality and are both OEM, but you must buy the clutch to match the flywheel apparently - so you can't have an LUK clutch and Sachs flywheel or vice versa.

Re: Low end power issue
Sounds like the intake manifold swirl flap actuator has failed to me. When mine failed, I swapped my inlet manifold for one of the older <2006 models which is metal rather than plastic but the power hasn't quite been the same at the low end since. Mine feels very much like you describe - no power un...

Re: Passenger side Knocking/banging/rattle
Drop links are probably where you need to look. Mine had horrific knocking when i didn't quite torque them up correctly when i replaced them. All good now though. Mine had done around 130k when it needed its first set - only just replaced them so let's hope the new ones last another 130K

Michelin Pilot Sport 4. I've had those on my B6 for a couple of years now and they are amazing. No problems in the wet and are positively on rails in the dry.
Blackcircles are about £90 a corner but well worth the extra in my view.

Yes, as the speakers are directly wired to the amplifier it will be going through the DynAudio system. You'll need to make sure the Pioneer head unit is set to output at line level and not speaker level as otherwise this may overdrive the amp.

Re: disable afs
You can disable it on some of the later cars (B7's i think) but i have no option to do that on my B6 with the Bi-Xenons. As said, either the module is faulty (in which case a replacement is best) or sort the issue in the headlights - sometimes that comes up when the static cornering bulbs are dead s...

Re: Power folding wing mirrors
Yes i've done it on my 2007. The front door modules will need replacing, you'll need either motors/wiring from a set of folding mirrors or just replace the entire mirror assembly, plus the mirror switch will need swapping and obviously the coding using VCDS. The difficulty is finding the right door ...

Re: Steering lock replacement - PIN code for Immo 4
It's a common issue with the B6 Passat, the steering lock isn't part of the key mechanism as it has a key you push into the dash rather than turn in a barrel. It's the original keys. The new lock is all fitted and ready to rock, but to code in the immobiliser needs the 4/5 digit PIN or 7 digit SKC c...
