In town mpg easy 55mpg, longer runs true 72mpg. I miss it not just for economy. I have a newer vw and will be abandoning the brand for sure. Seats on B4 were comfy and quality, suspension was so so comfortable good balance between wallowy and firm. Ok not as good as newer models on corners but give ...

Passat 1.9tdi buzzing relays after switch off

Hi all, on switching engine off I hear a humming/buzzing noise from under bonnet. On opening bonnet, I hear it and feel it through a box with lots of small hoses attached to it. Looking under the bonnet at the rear centre, at the top, the box is mounted on flimsy metal bracket. What is this box, it ...

if you're referring to the end of front door pocket, by the locks, I think they are for umbrella with drain holes at the bottom.

Re: EPB MOTOR

The housing is plastic, Looking at the document on Martins site it appears that water gets in past the seals and this causes the mechanism to seize up and instead of transferring the torque to operate the brake mechanism it is concentrated on the plastic housing. Basically a poor design executed at...

Re: EPB MOTOR

Appreciate the quick reply all. Thanks for the pic, from that it seems then, that the reason they crack is the sheer pressure, they tighten, on detecting a certain current drain or high back pressure on calipers they stop winding. So VW you have designed and used materials for the epb motor housing ...

MIne has the 1z in gl form, just an amazing solid car, not a spot of rust.

criticism, poor handling, under steers too. apart from that solid reliable and if you are really tight and cruise, you can get 77mpg honestly, and 55mpg in traffic.

one of the sources of creaks is the lousy crispy cable wrap vw uses on cable looms mainly the small ones. the one behind the glove box is a culprit.
