Re: White marks on engine cover and wheel nut covers
Sounds to me like water staining or TFR was allowed to dry, what have you tried to use to clean them so far? the engine plastics should come back up with a hit of APC (all purpose cleaner) from tescos or the like just spray it on and agitate it with a paint brush till it foams up then leave it for a...

Re: Gtechniq P1
Personally i would always use a wax or sealant after polishing. This will just add a little protection to the finish, polish itself doesn't typically offer any protection.

Re: part numbers
is it item 2 in this image?
If so the part number is 3B0853306
Probably worth checking with the dealers before ordering against that part number though....

Re: Multiple questions from a new buyer!

Hopefully the answers below will help. 1) If you are talking about the CD player in the dash then yeah, its pretty simple most modern stereos will plug straight in however you may need an aerial adapter and you will need the correct removal tool 2) 09 is a little while ago even...

Hi Guys, I have spent a little bit of time the last few days trying to figure out why the boot release on my 5.5 estate will not function. I have just replaced my solenoid and still nothing. I have tried looking for the correct fuses but have had no luck, is there a specific fuse that relates to thi...

Electric Windows
Hi guys.
I'm just wondering if the electric window mechanisms are the same on B5 & B5.5's?
Snow and ice claimed mine this morning when the window was frozen closed

I used these from Toolstation. You get 10 in a pack (i used 2 and a zip-tie for the vacum hose) im pretty sure that i will use them elsewhere. They are pretty good quality too which was nice.

Re: Elusive Dump valve - B5.5 1.8T Sport
There were 2 crimp clips however i they saw a swift end with a set of side cutters, i just swapped them for jubilee clips as the jubilee that was there has ceased and as a rule, ill always replace things like that.

Re: Elusive Dump valve - B5.5 1.8T Sport
just a follow up... Finally got around to fitting it today, took less than 20 mins including getting the undertray off, read the guide for fitting the bailey kit from awe-tuning and it couldn't have been clearer (just remember the guide is in US and thus passenger = driver etc). The most difficult p...

Re: Engine management light question.
do you know what the model of the valve is? a forge split -R is the only atmospheric valve that i am aware of that will not cause an eml issue though its not really the best option, from what i have read they "can" be prone to leaking boost. From reading several posts from all the VAG foru...

A quick check on DVLA indicates that it is 1.6. As for the 20v i can only guess that it has either had the boot replaced for whatever reason or they were added on after

Re: WET LOOK TYRE DRESSING
I typically use the AG Bumper gel, AG tyre dressing spray or the Valet Pro Protectant, all depends on how the mood takes or the desired result, always apply with strips of old wash sponge or a 1inch paintbrush (lightly) to avoid making contact with the rims, the brush is easier to control and allow ...

Re: Problem with my cooling system
Have you tried the bit highlighted red? If water is not flowing, then you need a new water pump. If water is flowing, then you don't need a new water pump and the problem is elsewhere. I would be inclined to suspect that it may be the head gasket again since it has been changed recently. It is a jo...

Re: B5.5 Issue HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!
Can i be honest? I would go and get a compression test done and or where possible get the "sniffer" test done to see if the head gasket has failed, its not the best response but it would seem that you have covered the other bases.
