I need to replace the left (passenger) cat as the flexible coupling has perished and the system is now blowing. Non OBD (guessing On Board Diagnostics) parts are available for under £100 but with OBD they're £400! Do I have OBD ('03 plate) and can I fit a non OBD?

If you have a sunroof read this
An earlier post of mine mentioned the wet footwells and crazy dash i've been having after water came in through my headlining. I spent a saturday morning pulling the front wheel arch trim away only to discover the front sunroof drains are in the door A pillar (I'll stick a picture in when I can). A ...

Re: Water Water everywhere
Yes, I can push a wire down to just below the bottom of the windscreen, the same on both sides. I'll approach from the bottom next time, i take it the wheel arch needs to come out?

Re: Water Water everywhere
Thank you. The plenum/scuttle is clear and dry, it's the sunroof to blame. After much heating and several hours of running the AC, the car is back to normal and all working as it should. I need to solve the non draining front drains now as a matter of urgency or i'll be nack to where i was!

Re: Water Water everywhere
Key remote and immobiliser are affected, would the comfort control module also play havoc with dash warning lights? The scuttle area is dry under the black plastic, this water has come down the inside of the a pillars.

Re: Water Water everywhere
I thought the ECU was passenger footwell. All this water is coming down the inside of the A pillar, not through the scuttle.

Re: Water Water everywhere
The key does still click off so i suspect an electrical gremlin. The water has been running down the A pillars and into the dash.

nymphomaniac in my suspension
Overnight i have a noise like a couple giving it beans on a squeaky bed from my left front suspension. The noise, a squeaking and groaning, comes in both vertical movement and slow turns. I know wishbones are a weakness, is this a symptom of failing wishbones (how do they fail?) or could it be ...

Re: Offset and where to buy spacers
Thanks for the replies. I'm not near the car currently but the existing alloy is a VW Phoenix which I think is a 7" wide rim. the replacements are a 7.5, does that skew the ET figures at all?
Having looked at spacers online, do I need a certain centre bore size?

Offset and where to buy spacers
I have just bought some 17" Audi A3 alloys to stick my winter tyres on which are PCD 112 so all's well so far....The Audi wheel is a 17 x 7.5 with an et of 58. Having offered these up they rub the suspension (i am running the 17 x 7 V6/ W8 alloy with 225 tyres, normal ride height). What size spacers ...

30mm drop
Having all but given up looking for a way to improve the ride of my v6 4mo while maintaining ride height, I'm leaning towards eibach springs and OE Sachs dampers.
Does anyone have a picture of a car on std alloys with a 30mm drop?

My 5.5 4motion wore the passenger front in exactly the same way, outside edge only. How do I tell if this is due to wear in the suspension linkages?

H7 for main and dip but I really wouldn't bother with HID in the main beam, you will all but lose your 'flash' ability.

I hadn't clocked the microswitch before. The http://www.taligentx.com/passat/mainten ... mechanism/ link points towards the soldered joints, are these both the same thing or do the microswitches do away with the solder?

Re: Looking for HID kit High + Low Beam recommendations plea
All HIDs take a little time to come up to temperature, it is not a passat-ism as all the kits are generic and fit any car. I had a HID main beam on my motorbike, staggeringly bright but useless to flash and when cold took 3-4 secs to get up to temperature.
