I'm sure that information is correct. I did read an article elsewhere that was proven it works.

Damn I feel for you.
In short always DIY if you can as you do, and if you have to go to someone to do it for you seek out someone with good reputation. I don't trust any garages now, the only one I trust is where my brother works and only if he does the work

Re: Help with some B5 bits and pieces
So the passenger door locking seems to have fixed itself. I was just looking up some threads about the headlight buzzer not working and there's some references to the CCM, could this also be related to a door not locking intermittently? Can't remember if the interior light comes on when opening all...

If they're a member of good garage scheme report them for that aswell, or get trading standards / newspapers involve.

I'll edit my reply because quite frankly I hate drunk teens, they're nothing but a nuisance, they need enrolling into the army or putting in a real prison with threat of being beaten up. I hate them with so much passion, sue the parents they're responsible for young adults. What goes around comes ar...

Re: Anybody own/used a cheap handheld obd scanner
Ideally looking for something a bit more generic which can read most cars. Not too bothered about advanced functions, just plain OBD code scanning to obtain fault codes. I have my vagcom for the important stuff

Anybody own/used a cheap handheld obd scanner
I'm looking at keeping a small handheld obd scanner in my cars glovebox (rather than a netbook/vagcom) combo as part of a toolkit because it would be useful for quick fault code reading I've been looking at items similar to these, but I'm worried they won't have built in protection like vagcom and c...

cool, i will save your link for when i go back to try it again for the third time. its not springing back for some reason, and i now have it fitted with the new spring, but it feels notchy, almost as if the spring ends are rubbing slightly on the casing? Re: drivers door barrel repair
I used all new parts except the spring. I'll take it back out and try just replacing the parts that are broken. The first castle type is missing a lug piece and the bigger castle piece is split so expands when put together. I posted my video up to show the techniques I use. Theres also the PDF on m...

Re: car slipped off jack :(
Quite right with the wheel under, forgot to mention that. You mean a proper scissor jack I presume, not the half thing comes with the car, theyre ok just more work :) Ooops, I actually meant the half scissor jack things, even I don't like using the full scissor jacks. Thing is I'll only use them fo...

Re: car slipped off jack :(
I must be the only one who likes using scissor jacks lol. I don't trust them, prefer a trolley jack but the scissor is more portable to use. I only go off the jacking points on the car and nowhere else and always chuck a wheel under the car incase it drops, that way it lands on the wheel and not me ...

Re: drivers door barrel repair
So did you use the old spring with c clip? First time I ever bought one of these kits was actually my best repair. I only replaced the broken part {castle} and used the standard bits for everything else Not sure why it's not locking though, make sure you turn the torx screw until you hear a clunk no...
