Re: My Passat B5.5 - X5s now fitted
So its been a while since I last updated this.. Car was off the road for 2 years and was put back on in September. However thanks to bad ice on a road and a taxi parked in the middle of it the car has been wrote off.. Been replaced by an 04 grey Estate which I have a few plans for and a thread will ...

No sound issue
Ok, to start off I made a bit of a mistake, I know so I don't need reminded. The Passat has been off the road for 2 years now and going back on in a few weeks. The headunit I had in it no longer has any sound after I attempted to tidy wiring on the ICE and (while it was connected and ignition on) to...

Re: passat estate b5.5 what size alloys would fit comfortabl
Yeah you can comfortably go 19" as long as they ain't too wide an they have the correct offset.. I had 19" RS4's and they never rubbed as they were 8J I think. My X5 wheels are 9J in the front with an offset and adapters pushing them out and they rub. But if you stay simple go 19's with a ...

Re: B5.5 rough starting and low on power
Cam was changed due to a knocking noise when revving.
The tips had worn. 160000 on the clock...
So back to the mechanic then?

Re: No start after fuel filter change
I made exactly the same mistake as you when I last services. I didn't fill the new filter with fuel.. Just keep turning on the ignition and let it push fuel through and keep turning her over. I had done this quite a bit and didn't want to damage the engine (when turning over I was getting an oil pre...

Yeah, the more water you get in around the area the better.. If it still leaks then you just need to do it again. If you read the last post in the sticky at the top of this forum about "pollen filter confidential information" someone done just the same thing today.

If you've sealed it run a hose over the windscreen and you'll know sooner rather than waiting.. Mine leaked that bad I could hear the water run down behind the dash when I put a hose on the windscreen..

As mentioned if you remove the filters be apply the sealant around the edge. When you remove the filter you will see the current foam seal, remove this and apply the sealant where it was and just ensure you leave no gaps..

Re: For the 3rd (maybe 4th) time (air bag warning light). He
Hi, I had the same leak and took me 2 goes to fix it properly. There isn't a drain behind the pollen filter but the seal on the filter leaks and lets water in. This can be made more excessive if the water run down the side is blocked with leaves or other debris and the water is standing around it. T...

Re: B5.5 rough starting and low on power
My first instinct was timing due to the rough start up and lack of power lower down but just assumed the mechanic was right.. Will have to get it checked..

Re: B5.5 rough starting and low on power
It's a 1.9TDi PD engine.
Checked with mechanic (previously worked for VW) and he advised it can't be timing as he used some sort of key thing that ensures timing is right.
Think ill have to get her checked for any codes tomorrow..

B5.5 rough starting and low on power
Hi, I haven been on in a while as I lost some interest after £1500 worth Rolf repairs in a 2month period. But even since then. The car isn't 100%. Feels rough starting when cold and if you try revving as soon as it starts there is no response (you need to give her a few seconds before revving) MPG ...

Yeah always the correct grade oil used..
Lol unfortunately not cheap. Over £1200 in repairs in 6 weeks..
Running better now but still not 100%.. A bit low on power lower down the revs so need to get that checked..

Re: My Passat B5.5 - X5s now fitted
No real changes lately due to repairs... As above 27th June alternator had to be replaced 22nd July and the clutch and DMF were replaced Today I dropped it off at the garage again and it looks like i may need a new enginer... So I dont think there will be any more changes for a while.. Especially se...
