Re: 1.9tdi 1Z Passat B4 wagon MPG?
My 1Z loved SVO just was a PITA to start of a morning, My MPG suffered a little but I'm sure throttle response improved.
Sadly my clutch/gearbox have given up on me , and have decided to move on to another vehicle for now.

Re: Is there a Decat for the B4 1Z 1.9tdi?
does removeing the cat create any more smoke? I may be interested in doing this for a bit more grunt, and where did you get the decat? A little more sooty yes, I think it's more of a particle filter (diesel particulate filter perhaps) than a cat. I bashed the innards out then refitted the hollowed ...

Re: Clutch slip, Difficult job? shall I?
I was running a tuning box, bashed out the innards of the cat & had been playing about with boost. As you've stated in your reply things have quickly gotten worse. Today I pulled upto work then turned round to park gear lever got stuck in reverse, killed the engine, it fell out of gear then i co...

Clutch slip, Difficult job? shall I?
Been playing about a bit too much lately and now my clutch has started slipping, slips from 1k rpm to 2k rpm I'm guessing that's becuase all the raw unadulterated power is in that rev range? I'll probably be laying her to rest comes september which gives me 5 months, though I have got my insurance r...

I'm sure I read a thread on here already about smoothing out door handles, I think someone photoshoped the handles out to see what it would look like.

Price sounds about right, I don't know about chip changing, custom code stuff. I do know that the AEB ECU can't be flashed like the younger ECU. It has to be taken off the car partly done on a bench.

Re: 1.8t... what is the deal with them?
From what i hear the difference is also clutch and no clutch, that worries me with the price of the DMF You could be getting confused with remapping a diesel? I had mine remapped when it had 100k on the clock then went on to do a futher faultless 20k, It's probably still going strong for the lucky ...

Re: Is there a Decat for the B4 1Z 1.9tdi?
Well I managed to have a play with the vaagen today. I whipped off what I thought was the cat, turned out to be filled with metal gauze rather than the usual honeycomb monolith you find in cats. Anyway it was a beatch to pull out, but do-able - I first tried the large pole and hammer trick which got...

If you've got a stock set up you shouldn't be seeing much lag at all, if any. Maybe if you had a chunkie aftermarket exhaust manifold or a larger turbo. Have you got a boost gauge?

Re: 1.8t... what is the deal with them?
What is the point in 20 valves? What does it do for me that 16 valves cant? I suppose the idea came about to try and achieve better combustion, I assume the extra valve would allow the fuel mixture to fill the cylinder more evenly, causing a more efficient bang? Looking at an 8valve engine compared...

Think for diesels it's more of a smoke test rather than an emissions test.

Coilies seem quite popular in an around the area, sh1te load cheaper than a spring damper combo and you could adjust them to a height that suits you.

From what I've read, the older the pump the better & if it's bosch that help too. Mine looks a little younger than yours and I've put all sorts through it the last few weeks, no probs other than starting in the mornings. Each time I tried a new substance I just got a sample and ran it straight t...

Re: 1.9tdi 1Z Passat B4 wagon MPG?
The first half of the tank lasted longer then the second for me and the red on my gauge only seemed to last 60miles IIRC. I had a go with veg oil, run it pure no probs - well no running problems, was a b1tch to start in the mornings though. I've run it on alsorts actually, things I'd rather not ment...
