For those interested. The pedal is all fixed & working. The fault just needed to be cleared using VCDS. I have removed the ECU today to find that there was a slight bit of water in the bottom of the housing. All dried out and cleaned. I took the connectors off (eventually, they're really fiddly)...

Ok. My mates been round & cleared the fault code for the TPS, and that's all good.

I'm just left with fault "17571 - Fuel Temp Sensor. Open or Short to Plus."

Has anyone ever replaced one of those?

Check the plugs in the ECU box, pay attention to the square red one behind the ecu and also unbolt the red, power supply wire and clean the crimp on connector with sandpaper or emery paper. You most likely have corrosion on the pins from the pedal to the ECU... I take it you did not have any "...

Just to let you know too, I opened up the ECU housing under the scuttle, but it was completely dry in there. There was a couple of relays & fuses though but they were very tricky to get to. Using the vagcom we checked that on both pedals. Read 0% when the pedal wasn't pressed, and pressing the pedal it rose to 100% when fully pressed, so we believe the pedal is working and isn't the cause of the fault.
