B6 questions
Afternoon chaps! A friend of mine has bought a 2005 (55plate) Passat TDI (140 I think). Its covered 94,000ish miles and he has a couple of questions that I couldn't answer, and we're hoping you can! 1) There is a consistent whining noise coming from the belt side of the engine, which whines with a h...

Re: Fuel Temperature Sensor
Also, make sure you check the wires on the electrical connector that goes into the sensor.....I had this fault code and it turned out to be that the cable had rubbed through and shorted. The wires from the loom are quite stretched and scuff on other pipes Thanks buddy. Yeah I though they looked ver...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
For those interested. The pedal is all fixed & working. The fault just needed to be cleared using VCDS. I have removed the ECU today to find that there was a slight bit of water in the bottom of the housing. All dried out and cleaned. I took the connectors off (eventually, they're really fiddly)...

Fuel Temperature Sensor
Hello everyone, does anyone have a how-to on how to replace the Fuel Temperature Sensor on a PD130 B5.5? I'm getting fault code "17571 - Fuel Temp Sensor. Open or Short to Plus." Using my mates VCDS, it was reading at a constant 40.5 degrees Celsius. I believe this now needs replacing and ...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Ok. My mates been round & cleared the fault code for the TPS, and that's all good.
I'm just left with fault "17571 - Fuel Temp Sensor. Open or Short to Plus."
Has anyone ever replaced one of those?

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Check the plugs in the ECU box, pay attention to the square red one behind the ecu and also unbolt the red, power supply wire and clean the crimp on connector with sandpaper or emery paper. You most likely have corrosion on the pins from the pedal to the ECU... I take it you did not have any "...

Ok check this out. So I woke up this morning bright and early to get the car sorted. Thought i'd start it up and try it, ANNND the cars fixed itself. WTAF? BUT. It's now saying 'EMISSIONS WORKSHOP!' and I've got an amber engine warning light. Just waiting for my mate to get out of bed so I can use h...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Just to let you know too, I opened up the ECU housing under the scuttle, but it was completely dry in there. There was a couple of relays & fuses though but they were very tricky to get to. Does anyone know if the accelerator pedal has a fuse or relay at all which might have blown? I doubt it bu...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Using the vagcom we checked that on both pedals. Read 0% when the pedal wasn't pressed, and pressing the pedal it rose to 100% when fully pressed, so we believe the pedal is working and isn't the cause of the fault. Checking the EGR isn't something if considered. Can you or anyone shine some light o...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Thanks for your help so far guys. I've replaced the pedal, but it hasn't fixed the fault. The VAGCOM shows this fault: http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx70/daverobsmith/photo.jpg "Fault code: 18047 - Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185) P1639 - 35-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent...

Re: B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Ahh ok! I cleaned my plenums out before winter knowing the common issue of them blocking & flooding. We have had a lot of snow in stoke where I live overnight. Could it be the ECU that's got wet & caused this problem, or would I definately have other issues? (Everything else works 100%). Or ...

B5.5 TDI 130 accelerator pedal problem
Hello! I've just broken down on the M6 northbound. The RAC recovered me to Burtonwood services where the car was scanned for faults. The car lost all power and showed 'Engine Workshop!' on the dash. The fault code was accelerator pedal position sensor faulty. We took the pedal out & took it apar...
