Water in the tailgate

Hi First rain for a while today and when I reversed from my work parking space and stopped water came out of the internal tailgate trim above the rear window (just below where the high level brake light is). This left water on the load cover and the plastic boot liner. I know it's not the end of the...

Replacing rear light unit and high level brake light

Hi Does anyone have any experience of removing and replacing the above items on a b6 Passat estate? Drivers side rear cluster working but cracked (passed the MOT but it's often - although not always - an advisory). Bought a second hand unit on eBay for £35 as been meaning to replace it for years. I...

Re: Rust on the inside of the doors!

Thank you to all, for your responses. I think I was too polite (I work for a car leasing company in customer services) so maybe I was a bit too sympathetic to the guy on the other end of the phone - although I don't know why, he wasn't particularly polite or understanding.. The whole situation in su...

Re: Rust on the inside of the doors!

Ah yes (of course), have had problems with that too.. Confirmed today by vw customer services - further "goodwill" offered so they now want me to pay £924 rather than £1320. Very frustrating. They confirmed that this is definitely not covered under the anti corrosion warranty because it'...

Re: Rust on the inside of the doors!

What is the epb motor (please forgive my ignorance) what you describe on your doors is exactly what I have on mine. Was in work until 6pm tonight but to his credit the man from vw did call and leave me a short message to let me know he had called (although doubt it's good news)... On a different not...

Re: Rust on the inside of the doors!

I received a voicemail from the man at vw customer services today. He stated they realise I have always serviced the car with vw and that "might" make a difference when they look at further goodwill..I swear if he mentions goodwill again I might just lose my mind. It's nothing to do with g...

Re: Rust on the inside of the doors!

Will take some photos over the weekend and put them on. It's not so much the problem with the "rust" issue (as you wouldn't know it was there unless someone pointed it out to you, although it will only get worse) it's the principle of it. The chap from vw customer services left me a voicem...

Rust on the inside of the doors!

Hi there. Took my 2007 b6 estate for a service with Vw at the end of February and asked them to look at the inside of a couple of the doors at the same time, for possible rust. They didn't, but if you've any experience of heritage Vw in Bristol that probably won't come as a surprise. They asked me t...

Ah yes. Do you have to take the interior panel of the door off to fix it? Is it a very involved job?

Re: Drivers Door not able to open from outside

I just had the same problem with the passenger door ( happened yesterday, the day after it came back from vw main dealer for service and mot). Have tried pulling both door handles at the same time but to no effect unfortunately. I've never had this problem before. Door handle feels limp with no resi...

Re: LED rear lights on estate.

Hello! It's been a little while since I've been on here (and it usually involves me moaning about something, I'm sorry about that!) Just noticed this afternoon (by accident) that near side rear taillight has lost some of its LEDs and so has the indicator within the same unit. I thought it would be a...

"service plan"

i bought a service plan through Heritage VW in Bristol in late January/early February. Ok, so here's the full story: I rang them as it had been over 1 year since the last service and they had sent no reminder (I had not done near the mileage anyway so wasn't too concerned). They sold me a service pl...

Re: Electronic Parking Brake Motors

Thanks Chrisdut and everyone else for the speedy replies! yes, I have no doubt that they went over the car well, and there's a great deal to be said for that. Would a novice like me be able to get at the motors, Chris? I can get grease (of course) and I can certainly jack a car up and remove the whe...

Electronic Parking Brake Motors

Hi It's been a little while since I have posted on the site (forgive me, I have to be honest and say that it's only when I have a problem!) My B6 estate 2.0 TDi (2007) went for a major service today. Mostly fine - front discs corroded by salt and brake pads 65% worn (wear and tear so no massive surp...

definitely ask them to look at it - the rust on my boot was very minor but it's only going to get worse (and they will know that)
good luck!

Re: Boot rust issue VW aware!!

ah, just read this post whilst browsing and guess what? Re: Engine Workshop Fault Light?

Hi I had a very similar problem to the one you described, today. I put the key in to start it, it turned over for a few seconds than flashed up " engine fault - garage" I tried again immediately afterwards and it was completely fine. Heritage VW in Bristol changed the injectors in December...

Re: ***PD injector recall****

I rang heritage vw in Bristol today as it's been 16 months since my last service and I was getting a little concerned as when I had (very occasionally) topped the oil up, I wasn't using the 5W30 longlife oil I should have been using, apparently. I thought a small service would be a good idea so book...

Hi I don't know if this is the same thing, but my stepfather owned the car I have before me and he had a detachable towbar fitted, it was a mobile fitting service based in Newport South Wales. It looks like they just cut a section of the rear bumper away (which sounds bad but you really wouldn't not...

Re: What should this button do?

I did wonder just how easy it would be to accidentally lock your keys in the car if you only used the boot release button on the key fob (when the car was locked) to open the boot.. i wondered if there was some kind of failsafe built in to prevent the car locking if that was to happen... maybe a goo...

Have used 2 dealers since I acquired my car, took it to one in south wales several times - when it was still under warranty - and they were excellent when it came to changing parts they thought may be faulty - but when I picked it up it looked a right mess inside and out - dirty and covered in bird ...
