Re: b3 2.0 8v (2e) Coil pack problems?!
^ Yes, put on a new coil and it starts and runs. I'm going to pick up some more today and compare the resistances on them to confirm it is definitely killing them. All the replacements were new (got three returned luckily, assuming it be a dodgy batch), the most recent was a different brand. It has ...

Re: b3 2.0 8v (2e) Coil pack problems?!
Pin are clean and look ok, and wiring dissapears straight up along the loom along the bulkhead will pull it all out later and check.
This one only has a knock sensor on the block, no cps from what I can see (changed the oil recently and looked).
Crank sensor would cause the coil to fail?

b3 2.0 8v (2e) Coil pack problems?!

ONe lasted a week the next a couple of months. I think I have put 4 on it now. Today I started it up it ran for about 20 sec...

Okey dokey
Ah, I see. The problem I had was the smaller nut will turn a small amount but the metal hose is turning along with it. which is why i called it a day earlier, I could see me snapping the thing completely!
Cheers for the help so far though! First vw I have had with power steering lol

After buying all nice new shiny suspension for her, she has responded by piddling pas fluid out. yay. leak is coming from where I have marked, likely to be that metal pipe? do i need a whole new section of hose? if so a part number or where to find the bit would be great, i cant seem to find them on...

One of my rear shocks has started to leak, think they were JOM ones - blue springs.
Seems a pain to buy a whole new set but I don't see any other option :s
are hottuning /tatechnix still the way to go?
Any other ideas are welcome!!

I used h&r springs on my b2 and it drove pretty nicely on them, but bought all the other bits from the local motor factors. That was a few years ago though.

Re: 1989 B3 Wheel conundrum
Any 4 stud vw wheels will be a direct fit, you can pick up a cheap set of steels with tyres fairly easily, golf ones look prettier than the passat ones. as fonzeroo said it's not a good idea to run a larger centre bore without spigot rings. The weight is taken by the centre which centres them aswell...

Re: B3 (2e digifant) - still not quite right..
Found a small vacuum leak today so sorted that out, but still randomly cutting out. Going to put the coil problems down as just a dodgy unit, nothing more. It was still randomly stalling dead after 30 seconds or so, and occasionally running lumpy trying to stall. Swapped out the fuel pump relay, ECU...

Re: b3 heater fault
Whilst at the local scrappy has a mooch around, they had an L reg Audi 80 which has the same heater setup, which was handy.
Pinched the whole panel which exactly the same as the passat one, clipped it in and all it's working perfectly

Re: B3 - borked again ECU wanted :(
Got a new ecu on the way, which will be good as a spare if nothing else. The problem this time was it had blown the 2 week old coil on me, swapped it out and it it seems ok. But today it just cut out whilst I was moving the car onto the drive, just stopped dead, no juddering or stuttering. It has do...

You are bloody lucky mate! It's horrible to know how many people didn't get their money back. And you won't be the last to get stung either.
