B3 driveshafts, same as b4 and mk3 golfs???

I'm after the o/s complete driveshaft as the outer cv joint has gone (creaking and knocking).

Question is, is the o/s drive shaft off a mk3 golf the same as a passat??? i would assume the B4's are the same??

i'm after one for a 2L 8v automatic

Hard to start when cold

Right this has been bugging me for a while now. When i go to the car in the mornings, after leaving it over night or for a couple of days. It struggles to start. please excuse the crude description but this is what it does. turn the key, hear the fuel pump prime. turn the key to start, engine turns,...

Re: No Speedo or MFA functions, Auto box

well this morning i managed to fix it!!!! chopped back into the wiring loom, and found a broken wire, about 2 foot from the sensor, luckly i had cut off the wiring for the sensor off the car in the scrap yard. I heat shrunk that into the loom on my car, and its all fully functioning!!!!!

Re: No Speedo or MFA functions, Auto box

tried another speed sensor and it still doent work :( tried the drill test with both sensors, and both failed (no movement on the speedo)

the wiring going to the sensor seems to be very 'hard' so i'm going to have a look at the wiring next.

Re: No Speedo or MFA functions, Auto box

just done the test with the drill on the end of the sender!!! no reading on the speedo :) so this means it is the sender itself and not the plastic parts in the box, which is kinda good news.

But next step is to try and find a new sender!!!!

1.8 rp engine swap to a 2L

Been toying with the idea of dropping a 2L engine in my wagon. I know its not an exciting engine swap but i think it will be better then my 1.8 RP engine that in atm.

Just wondering what extras i will need, such as extra wiring, or can i just plug and play the 2L engine loom?
