Re: 2020 Passat Infotainment System Symbols?

Good luck finding a manual! I didn't get a manual for my Discover Pro in my 2019 Passat estate documentation. I have tried at the dealership and they can't find anything regarding manual availability! I tried an online chat with VW and they couldn't confirm if there was a manual and said to c...

Re: B6 05 BKP engine. How is EGR flow detected?

Thanks for the replies guys! :) I can confirm that there is no sensor on the EGR valve to give indication that the EGR has opened. Luckily I managed to talk to a Bosch tech yesterday and he confirmed that it was the MAF that provides indication of EGR operating by the drop in flow through the MAF wh...

B6 05 BKP engine. How is EGR flow detected?

As in the title. On a BKP 140ps engine. How is the EGR flow detected? I have an intermittent fault code P0401 'Insufficient Flow' show up and despite checking and cleaning EGR system the error returns. Is there a pressure sensor somewhere that I am missing that may be blocked? If so where is it loca...

Re: Steering Column Lock problem fixed

The steering lock has been a long standing problem with the B6 models. Just search back through the forum! Prices for repair varied from £300 to £1700 depending on what lock you had fitted. (there is more than one supplier of these!) There was a taxi driver on here that had a fleet of 12 Passats a...

Re: Awfull MPG from 140BHP Estate manual

I do about 10 miles to work on a duel carriageway so I have most of the trip waiting for the engine temperature to come up to 'normal' Ambient temperature does have quite an effect on how quickly the engine warms up. If you also have the screen demist on with the fan blowing this will also slow up t...

Re: URGENT REGARDING 2.0 TDI INJECTORS

Just had all four changed today under a recall. I had a bit of a brake problem that it was booked in for and when I arrived they told me about the recall. Had the brakes done and a shiney new set of injectors fitted. I asked what the problem was that caused the recall and it is due to nozzle fouling...

Re: Tyre wear problems

I would suggest that you get the alignment done AND register the problem with VW CS dept. At least then you have raised the concern before the warranty runs out so they would have difficulty in saying that it is not now covered if the problem persists and you want to take it further.

Re: 55 plate passat, steering lock light and coil light

Hi I joined the forum tonight, my 2 year old, 57 plate, tdi 170, developed this fault (red steering wheel light on, coil light on and would not start) on tuesday, the very nice RAC man towed the car to my local dealership as he could not get it started, they rang today to say that it may be an inje...

Re: 55 plate passat, steering lock light and coil light

Right. I have the part number but this is for the steering lock itself! Reading your reply you made yesterday again, makes me think you may be refering to the convienience control module?

Anyhow, the part number of my steering lock is 3C0 905 861 A.

The new lock part number ends with an 'H'

No But you could always get him to ring Caffyns in Portslade, Brighton and ask them how they fixed the problem? I'm sure they would confirm the fix!! Or book your car in there!!! ;-)

Re: Help!! my passat is ill :(

Have you tried having it diagnosed at a VAG dealership! I think I would if I was thinking about spending £1800 to replace a turbo! IF the injector fault is pointing towards over fueling, this could potentially cause an over boost situation hence the second fault code. An over boost warning can also...

Well when you do ring them back, don't forget to tell them about the guy who owns the taxi firm in Hartfordshire that has 16 of them on his fleet and has had this problem with seven of them so far!!

Re: castrol 0w 30 long life 2 oil

You need to use the Castrol Edge 5W-30. This is the latest spec oil, (VW504 00 507 00) recommended by VW. This replaces the older SLX Longlife II 0W-30 (503 00 / 506 00 / 506 01 spec). You can use your 'old' bottle of SLX to top up with so just use it up and then just use the Edge! One of the reason...
