Re: Cambelt Woes - V6 Tdi

The blue sensor in the bottom of the rad and also the green engine coolant temperature sensor changed and all is now OK.

Also, the noise on the engine was down to a failed damper which was also a brand new part. FFS!

Re: Cambelt Woes - V6 Tdi

Told today that the sensor in the rad is U/S and when replaced the temperature gauge now works. Also told that the thermostat is intermittant so it all needs stripping down again. So much for buying OEM parts. X( Spoke to Audi and they said they would replace the faulty thermostat - thanks Audi. How...

Have the level been checked after a short drive?
Yes there is :D ,.........always worth asking. I've also asked them to bleed the pressure system and make sure that it is not air locked.

Level checked and all OK.

No they did not although I read somewhere about a faulty pressure switch which is to do with the aircon.

Re: Cambelt Woes - V6 Tdi

Which fan? Electric or belt driven? The electric fan will run in Auto on the climatronic when it needs to, press ECON and it should stop. The belt driven fan spins all the time but has little drive behind it until its coupling warms, you should be able to stop it spiking when the engine is cold, do...

Cambelt Woes - V6 Tdi

Because of my thermostat not working and taking advice on here, I decided to have the cambelt changed at the time. Now normally I do all my own mechanics but again from taking advice on here, I booked it into a local garage. The first phone call I got from them was that the kit only included x1 belt...

Re: RS6 wheels on B5.5

I have a set of these to go on and they are 9J, but was only looking at 10mm spacers.

The weels I currently have on are ET35 which are the standard highline ones.

The RS6 wheels are ET 45.

So will I get away with just 10mm?

Best Place To Buy Mats?

Where is the best place to buy a set of mats as my drivers one is a little tired? I've seen these on e-bay, but just wondered where the best place is to get a decent set. The car is a B5.5 V6Tdi Highline estate and the original mats are grey in colour. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-GENUINE-VW-...

Had a quote today and garage wanted £500 big ones.

Anyone had it done cheaper elsewhere?

Once this is done the car will be up for sale with just 117K and FVAG + Highline model.

Thermostat Replacement + Cambelt?

My thermostat is not working. The engine is a BDG and it is a V6 Tdi.

Can this be replaced without removing the cambelt?

If the cambelt has to come off it will all get repalced including the water pump etc.

Can anyone recommend anyone who will work for pound notes?

Can bring car and assist etc.

Went to the stealers on Friday to price one of these............£313! Removed it on Saturday and all looked OK. Pulled the sheath back on the connector, two wires bared and one broken. I've made a temporary repair to the loom and it works - very happy! Just need to do the thermostat now, which from...

Re: Drivers foot well.

Hi All, I noticed that my footwell carpet and mat are damp/wet. I haven't spilt anything down there, so I'm at a loss as to what has caused it. Anyone got any idea? Suffered something similar? Cheers Tom I once came back from a two week break in Turkey to find around 10cm in my footwell. It turned ...

Hi Dave,

I've done all sorts on my UR Quattro so mechanically I'm OK, but when it comes to this V6 I'm lost.

How do I achieve this test and what is a vcds?

Re: Code P2100

This fault went away for several months and now it has come back.........., although it did go away for a few days and so on. Basically I have found where this lives and seperated it yesterday from the inlet manifold. There was hardly any oil residue at all, but nevertheless, I cleaned it anyway. It...

Temperature Gauge Low

Just last week I noticed the temperature gauge only reaching about 60 degrees. Prior to this it was always solid at 90 degrees. I've done some research on the forum but not read anything which would give me a 100% diagnosis. Is it likely to be the Coolant Temperature Sensor or the Thermostat? My car...

What parts did you replace as this has just happened to me on my V6 TDi.

The garage are just looking at replacing the bolt, new belt and nothing else?

GSF advised on changing the spring/damper, but the garage said 'no'. How can you check what needs changing?
