Re: need help to value mk2 passat

[quote="Gazwould"]Sorry I'm a realist who has owned true classic cars and driven many more.
One was stolen to order never to be seen again.

I just struggle to see the mk 2 attraction .

In that case, why bother posting on this forum?

Plans include air struts on the back, tidying up the paintwork, possibly colour coding the black trim and bumpers [to white] possibly changing the interior.

Re: PAS V NON PAS

Not thought of that. What would I need to track down? Also, can anyone confirm whether a VW Quantum estate from the states is the same as our B2 Passat estate? They look the same apart from headlight changes. Quite a few of the hot rod boys have done it. Google electric pas conversions, which shoul...

Converting to air ride

Having aquired Ian's rather spiffing blown '99 4motion, I'm going to have to do something about the rear ride height. I like the stance, there's several places where I get clearance problems. I have [left over from an old Yank lowrided project] a resevoir tank . pump, lines and controls. Does anyone...

'99 v6 4motion alternator

The alternator on my supercharged V6 4 motion has failed. Looks like I'm going to have to remove pretty much all of the front of the car to gain access. Any hints or tips?

Re: Advice - what shall i do?

Replacing VAG suspension parts is peanuts compared to bloody Honda parts. I'd get the tallest profile tyres [part worns for economy] that you find and fit them to your steelies, which should give a bit more protection against pot holes.

Re: Need questions answered, new car advice.

Not the greatest of engines, not that quick, pretty thirsty, and doing the cambelt is not a five minute job, and at that mileage they're due. Auto gearbox is made out of chocolate. Don't handle that well, due to the V6 weighing about as much as the moon. Find a 1.8 t, far better bet. If you've got Â...

Re: Absoloutly sick of this car

all just depends on the car, each car is individual other than faults at the productions line (plenum chamber issue etc). not every car will have all the same problems during its life, all depends on how its been looked after, or not looked after. there are people that havnt had problems like this ...

B5 1.8t exhaust removal and re-fitting

Just done this, thought a "how to" post may be of use. You will struggle without a ramp! 1] Pref 24 hours in advance, give the down pipe bolts a good soaking in Plusgas or similar. Remove drivers side front wheel for better access 2] There's a heat shield just above the d/s drive shaft. Th...

It does indeed, just seems to be odd that it's failed virually overnight, with no apparent warning.
