Re: Anyone dumped Sky yet?

First place I moved into with my partner had a sky dish so we decided to try them. I've always been subjected to sky as far as I can remember, so I knew about loss of signal if someone so much as sneezed near the dish. I will say that I can't remember the exact values. However, I asked for sky+. The...

Re: best used MPV?

Well I've just bought a galaxy V6. I have 4 children and it's a good motor for space, comfort and with the engine, pretty shifty. That said, I've just found a V6 4 motion Sharan and I desperately want that now. I can't offer any opinions on anything other than the Sharan, Galaxy or Alhambra and even...

Re: Strange thread....Anxiety, anybody suffered it?

Sorry to hear all this guys. I had almost 4 months off a couple of years ago with a nasty onset of anxiety, depression and really nasty side effects of the bowel type because of work related stress. My manager advised me to take some time off and have the doctor/GP sign me off because of my personal...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Cleaned her inside and out. Valued at 2150 private, 1440 part ex. Particular MPV's I'm looking at are overpriced and all dealers are looking to shaft me with a part ex price. V6 MPV's I'm looking at are valued privately at just over £1000. Part ex of 600 - 750. Several dealers I've contacted with V...

Re: Still clunking on N/S front.

No Dan. Mine was literally stopping and pulling away. Though it was more when the cars mass centred itself. So when you brake or accelerate, the pitch of the car goes nose heavy/light. Then when the weight shifts forward or back, the clunk occurred. Yours sounds odd. I would have thought that your c...

Re: Still clunking on N/S front.

SORTED IT!!!!!. The lower, rear suspension arm bolt that secures the arm to the subframe was loose. Now I know that I said they were tightened correctly and I thought they were. I tightened them as tight as I possibly could and that was a helluva lot. I only stopped through fear of shearing the bolt...

Sounds like nothing on the phone. The clunk is that loud, that people dozens of meters away turn to look.

Re: Karls 312 BHP Audi A4 TDI build thread

Engineer at Area 51 per chance, Karl? :D This build thread is completely mad pal. What other plans do you have for her or is it more aesthetics now?. By the way, I've come to the conclusion that when you say "Only takes 30 minutes", I think "take what Karl says and multiply it by 3&qu...

Re: Still clunking on N/S front.

Well this is the odd thing. I have pretty much replaced the whole suspension assembly and bushes and cv joints. It really has me stumped. Brakes and discs/pads are a few months old. I was thinking front sub frame bushes but that would really only work driving forwards. No movement anyway and there i...

Re: Still clunking on N/S front.

I've spent the past month trying all suggestions. Clunk is still there. I've given up now. Mainly because I don't have the time anymore with childcare and being stupidly busy. It clunks all the time with stop and start motions. New challenge is to locate a pulley whine that's just recently started. ...

B5 1.8 N/A hunting with no power below 3k revs.

I'm asking on behalf of a friend. His car is also an automatic. The engine hunts at idle. Serious lack of power below 3000rpm. Once he's got the car up to that mark, it seems fine. Obviously with the gear change, it is the same up to 3k revs again. He has found no air leaks. He has cleaned the throt...

Still clunking on N/S front.

Hi, smee again. ~x( Pull off *CLUNK* Slow down *CLUNK* Anything that involves changing the pitch of the car suddenly or slightly, especially in 1st gear, results in the clunk. This also occurs with lateral movement too. Car parks are the place it happens the most. So, I've had 1) N/S outer CV joint ...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Junior mistake. Took the EGR off to swap for the EGR delete. The Mrs threw the box with some of my passat bits into the skip we had last month, so I'm now left with the EGR back on the car, dumping oil through the top vac part. Understandably, I was miffed off with the Mrs, mainly because when I que...

Re: cats

I might as well say that I have tried most conceivable options, over a period of nearly 4 years now. We have the ones that like to sit on the cars and the others that use my back garden as a toilet. The only real deterrent that worked, was looking after my in laws dog for 10 months. All cat related ...

Re: Skip filled halfway overnight.

Wingz, I did think that was a possibility, but at night, I don't know. Karl, yes, I even started thinking someone must have clocked the skip and planned their move in the 10 minutes before the light went completely. T2000, I'd love to, believe me. However, I can't put other people out or upset the p...

Skip filled halfway overnight.

General chat. Sorry guys but I'm so angry and needed to vent/ask questions. I had a skip delivered yesterday evening at around 5pm. Bad time to drop it off but nothing I could do really. I went out last night to pop some rubbish in the bin at about 11pm, skip was empty. This morning, I was up at 053...

Sell or p/x the passat?

So, me and SWMBO are having our forth child. Last one too. I'm looking for a people carrier. I know stylin?, has or had a Mk1 Galaxy. I'm looking at the VR6 mk2..... so the 200bhp V6 in either the Sharan or the Galaxy. Anyway, the Passat has a private sale estimation of around £2,200. P/x is...

Just a follow up chaps. So, thank you all VERY much!. :ymapplause: :-bd You were all spot on the money with the CV joint comment. I replaced that earlier, along with the rear brake pads. Knocking, clunking, twitched steering wheel

Pick your brains time, gents. Driving along at 70 for a few miles. Notice rhythmic vibrations coming through the steering wheel and the chassis. It increases over a few seconds until it sounds and feels like the front N/S wheel is about to fall off. Thudding thud slows with the wheels slowing. Accel...

Thanks chaps. Checked her over earlier. Wheel nuts were tight. No bearing play but there is a slight wobble from the TRE, minimal though but still, movement shouldn't occur for an MOT. Tyres are halfway through their tread, had them new in February, wheels are fine with nothing visible.' However, th...

Really nasty pull/steering wheel wobble at speed.

5.5 Wagon. Driving along earlier at 75mph the steering wheel starts to rock left and right. To the point where I had slowed to around 50 and it was still there. Snatching the steering wheel to the right. It carried on until I pulled onto the hard shoulder a few seconds later and stopped. Even at 3mp...
