Re: Fan still running after engine switched off? 2.0 Tdi Cr.

It's not like that Mindriot, as said the fans run to cool the DPF regen, they can go on for 5 mins after switch off if it's mid regen. But Mindriot is right cars have had electric fans for a very long time and a secondary fan on most cars pre dpf was for cooling down when been very hot day and had ...

Re: Normal to start a regen after start up?

It's best for specific diagnosis for four letter common rail engine codes , eg CBAA , CBAB , CBBB , CBAC . Where would I find this information then? I've heard all of these terminologies but don't know the differences. If they're all common rail engines are they the different engine sizes that stat...

Not too sure what you mean by this CRD stands for common rail diesel. I was telling you I had the CRD engine as 2008 was the change from PD to CRD

Re: Normal to start a regen after start up?

What is the mileage? A number of nasties may be about to raise their ugly heads. Bad temp sensor. Stuck or stiff thermostat. DPF reaching maximum ASH load (not the soot level but the stored ash from all the regeneration cycles as it is retained in the DPF). Oil pump drive key about to round off (ex...

Re: B6 4-wheel alignment

Hi everyone, I've not been on for some time. My '06 estate had its MOT last week & apart from the usual "cannot inspect certain areas due to under trays/panels" advisory, the tester highlighted that there was a need for a 4-wheel alignment (a task they are not kitted out for). I spoke...

As always happens, I've just spent over 300quid on my brake upgrade to the 321mm discs and a6 calipers and a pair of s4 calipers allowing me to go to 345mm discs came up really cheap, obviously they had to be bought, so new 345mm discs were purchased and fitting is imminent, why do we do it??? Re: Pulling my hair out what's left of it, probs with b6 ........

Turbo Actuator is a very common problem. Put a gauge on it and see if it holds vacuum. Had exactly the same problem on mine a year ago while towing in Scotland. New actuator at an Indy cost me around £220. Yes I had the same problem the actuator on our cars is attached to the top of the turbo which...

Re: Estate tyre pressure?

Guys these tyre pressures are depending on wheel and tyre sizes. I have 235/35/19 and if I ran 32-35 psi it would be too soft on UK roads as there is such a small tyre wall profile if you hit a pot hole it will pinch the tyre and damage tyre wall. If you have standard VW wheels that came with the ca...

Re: Estate tyre pressure?

Is there not a sticker inside the fuel flap? Will be listed in the owners manual. 44psi is way to high for the front. Should be around 38 tops for best fuel economy and 34 for comfort. I have my saloon at 36/37 fronts and 34/35 rear which has proven to be the ideal values for best tyre wear over th...

Re: Estate tyre pressure?

I noticed my rear tyres look soft, I checked, 44psi front, 33psi rears, that doesnt make an awful lot of sense to me. The car is school run/week end, not usually loaded with weight apart from 2 adults and 2 small kids, usually driving country lanes, what do you guys think? 33 looks quite soft. Depe...

By , by , clutch too if you don't keep the torque at 340 lbft . Should of got a 4motion to give you the traction . Or better still an Audi quattro with a 60/40 split and 3.0 tdi engine . Just be happy with what you have , a 140 Stage 2 . Did not go for bigger engine due to cost of running like insu...

Re: DIY remap files awx

If you read my reply I thought it was a B5.5, even so I wasn't far off with the BHP and the torque figure with the tuning box is insane. Do you have 211bhp and 461nm with a 140 turbo? Yes the original standard 140 bhp turbo. I might at a later stage put a hybrid turbo and maybe/hopefully get it upt...

Re: DIY remap files awx

Nice and realistic result from a 140 CR , definitely 170 dpf & egr delete Stage 1 remap results . There are inaccuracies because no one knows what their car is putting out until you put it on a dyno albeit an accurate one . I was lucky to guess and was just 1.5 bhp away from my estimate , lol ....

185bhp and 300 lb torque Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk Thats a load of rubbish if it's for a B5.5, I have used a TDI tuning box on a B5.5 and they either trick the fuel or plug into the injector rail and there is no way you get those figures, 160bhp and maybe 250-260lb ft at most and they ar...

Re: 2.0tdi juddering problems

The garage is in Manchester (google it and you should come out with an address in Mossley), the turbos are remanufactured meaning they get after market parts to increase performance needs, they also do (or at least used to) a 12month warranty and I suggest you drop them a message because they do pl...
