Re: Timing belt and waterpump quote
Maybe it's just me,but I look at a lot of posts on here about parts and prices, and whilst I understand that not every one has deep pockets and it's as well to be aware of prices in general,I would not go anywhere for a job on my car based on price alone. You must know who's doing the job and their ca...

Re: wastrels wagon in Lochgoilhead
I holidayed there 30 years ago,and revisited 2 years ago.Unlike theredfox,I found the changes immense, all the buildings at the head of the loch are new to me,and then, there used to be cod in the loch.We would fish from the south side of the loch and catch loads, try it now.

Done the job,ffs what a ballache just for a cable,if there is any redeeming factor,my window now goes all the way down with one touch, whereas I had to hold the button before. If it happens on any of the other doors, tough they won't be getting done!!!

I have a sport estate chopper,no heated seats and 108k when I bought it.No inherent faults so far,135k now.I changed the gearbox oil so I knew what was in it,and best engine oil every 5k with filters which are vw.I did put a clutch and flywheel in as well, but I knew that at time of sale,it is remapp...

I'll give that a coat of looking at,many thanks.Flix wrote:It'll be the switch in the latch. Mine was the same, new latch was £22 from main dealer.
Also worth checking rear wash wipe while the panel is off, mine had more water coming in the car than on the screen. Repair kit was about £30.

Well,I would never argue against practical experience,so maybe it's time for me to have a look at winter tyres .What gives them the advantage,is it compound or tread?or a combination of both.

Re: Understeer - wet and wild
I know from my own experience over the years that wet roundabouts are much much slippier than dry.As Karl says, diesel and extra rubber, plus the adverse camber make for a "no loud pedal"situation,ESPECIALLY with cheapo tyres.Incidentally I have never had "winter "tyres in my life,...

oil retention valve
I mentioned in a post a while ago that I was about to change a tappet, and the general opinion was that the tappets on pd130's are usually ok.Someone,I think it may have been Karl, suggested it may be an oil retention valve. Before I topped up my oil today, the tappet had become noisy, after I topped up,...

I have a 312mm pair of discs with carriers and pads if someone is interested, all for 150 quid... All genuine parts, discs are good with no lip, pads are half way trough and the carriers are in good nick. They fit under 16" alloys and are the best stock brake upgrade on a budget without having...
