AWX "Engine Workshop!" error message but no fault codes!
Hi guys ... any ideas? AWX suddenly bleeped at me with error message on dash of "Engine Workshop!" (yes .... with the exclamation mark! :-o ) and glow plug light flashing. I scanned for codes and there is nothing. Engine is running and pulling ok even with the error, but I rely on the car ...

Re: My 1.6 TD refusing to restart once hot
Hmmmm but diesel drain back to the tank would cause restarting issues when the engine returns to cold right? I don't have that issue. The clear fuel supply and return pipes are free of air bubbles too.

My B5.5 alarm keeps going off
53 plate 20VT wagon with what I assume is the factory fitted alarm. Seems to go off ramdomly every few hours for perhaps 15 seconds and then stops I've checked the obvious things like doors and windows shut. Any ideas? Thanks guys

My 1.6 TD refusing to restart once hot
My 91 SB 1.6 TD starts fine from cold but she has been getting harder and harder to start when warmed up. Usually when I give it some manual chock she fires up but during this heatwave last few days she just refuses to start.
Any ideas?
Thanks guys

Hi there, Looks in good shape ... good find! Yes the VR6's don't come up very often - Not a great seller for VW in the Passat form. I cant vouch for the accuracy of howmanyleft.co.uk but it suggests 'not many' B) :D https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/volkswagen_passat_vr6 Now stop gloating .........

Re: Help - Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor
How can you tell when the ABS sensor is far enough in? can it go too far in and foul the tone ring? Not far enough and it won't work either right?Whilst we're on the subject chaps.....how about re-entering the new ABS sensor.
Thanks

Re: When to change suspension arms?
The pinch bolt is at the top of the hub carrier arm and secures the ball joints from the 2 upper suspension arms that come from the top plate/top of suspension strut. +1 from the guys who say to start spraying the bolt at both ends and in the pinches, but I've just done mine and no amount of soaking...

Febi Bilstein control arms good quality?
Hi Guys. Anyone using Febi control arm replacements? You happy with the quality? I need to replace track rod ends (replacing rack) and upper arms & drop link on one side, and I don't want to fit cheap fleabay stuff, but the quality stuff on Euro and GSF is going to cost 140-200 quid! I've seen I...

Losing steering fluid from rack
It's a B5.5 20vt and fluid is leaking (alot!) from the end of the offside gaitor. Guessing this is the internals of the rack failed? Ok so assuming that the rack is shot, how difficult/how long to change the rack? and are there other parts I should change whilst I'm there? Guessing I do an exchange ...

Re: Timing belt kit advice.
[quote="bakili"]I would only go for genuine VW timing belt kit as you get 2 years warranty with it.
But surely this guarantee doesn't apply if you fit it yourself? Only if fitted by an approved dealer surely?

Is the 2.5 TDI a gem? or stick with 1.9 130
Hi there, B5 Newbie here.
Looking at a 2003 2.5 TDi tomorrow but wondering whether it is worth it for the pace, sound etc ... or just go for a 1.9 130?

How many miles did I squeeze out of the last tank in my TD w
(Ok I did have to admit to myself that I must have become a sad ol git to think MPG is cool but.....) 821 ... yes 821 miles .... out of a single tank! Ok was virtually all mway miles and after 750 I did treat it like a Top Gear challenge and drive at 56 MPH .... But that is awesome. That works out a...

What length bolts to run with 15mm spacers?
Want to run 15 mm slip on hubcentric spacers on the rears of my 1.6TD wagon. I've measured current bolts and the thread is 28mm long. Cant decide whether to get 40mm or 45mm extended bolts. With the 40s I loose a turn or two when the bolts are done up, and with the 45s I'm not really sure whether th...
