Sorry chaps, another thing - my B3 1.6 TD got through the emmissions part of the MOT only when they put something in the fuel tank to make the engine less smokey! (ie. without anything added, it would not pass). What did they add, and do I need to be concerned about this? Is it going to deteriorate...

I have my eye on a B3 1.8 GT on sale locally but SH is a bit patchy so I don't know when the timing belt was last changed. How much should I expect to pay for a garage to change it?

Hi and welcome. I bought a 1991 B3 1.6 TD estate 4 months ago and I'm amazed by the MPG. I put £60 quid in and she gives me 600 miles every time! I think that's around 55 MPG! OK I treat the ol' girl with a bit of respect and drive sensibly, and fuel consumption is not exactly a sexy subject B) but...
