Re: B5.5 Sport Climate Control Problem

Hi

Well, guess you should check of the fuse is OK (guessing the compressor has its own one!) and it may well also fire a relay to put power onto the compressor. Check to see if that works.

Otherwise I dont know but I know compressors are about £1300 from the stealership!

Re: Longlife Servicing

Ahh

Ok, £518 lighter now!!

Had the CV Boot replaced, the 60000 miles longlife service and brake fluid change.

Mind you, was worth it for the lovely young woman on the service desk, we are on first name terms now :-) :-)

Re: Longlife Servicing

Ah Already done that about 4 months ago when I had the MOT done. That was £360 job by itself!!! Actually got 62500 miles on the clock. Service indicator says 300 miles to go but being I have to get the CV boot replaced I might aswell have the service at the same time as I am off to Cornwall on Satu...

Longlife Servicing

Hi Just booked my car into VW for a service as my dash keeps reminding me. Since new its been on a longlife servide regime and decided to keep it going. Was last done some 18000 miles ago, or 17 months. They have quoted me £280 as its a "big one" (60000 miles). What do they do on this ser...

Re: Coolant loss solved!!

Hi

Well, as you know, VW did mine under a "Goodwill" gesture as they never found the leak, which they reckoned was lower nearside. I did see the costs of the parts though, £120 inc VAT for rad and coolant.

Re: Coolant loss solved!!

Hi Well, the dealership suprised me by calling me Monday to say they would cover all the costs as they didnt diagnose the problem properly whilst it was with them in the warranty period. Its in being done today. Just waiting for the call to say its ready as my mate saw it being road tested a few mil...

Coolant loss solved!!

Hi Well, brought a B5.5 from local dealer in March 2007. had to refil expansion tank 3 times in the first year, whilst under warranty. So, the main dealer had the car in twice to find the leak, pressure tested, the full works, nothing. Left for work this moring, alarm bells go off low coolant! So, s...

Hi

Ok, here is a question, Morrisons in Basingstoke sell Biodiesel at their pumps.

Bodiesel is made from refineing vegetable oil yeah, or something like that so why on earth is it the same price as bog standard diesel thats supposed to be "linked" to the price of a barrel of oil....

Re: Towing with my passat

Hi Looking to get a Witter towbar for my 130TDI B5.5 Passat as I wish to pull a caravan of about 1400kg. Dont really see to much of a problem. Anyway, called a towbar installer yesterday and they want £205 +VAT to fit with single electrics but they said i would probably need a removable towbar as i...

Re: Installing Nokia CK-7W car kit.

Hi Yeah, thats what I did for the power and other feeds to the car kit. I brought a male to female DIN lead and used just the power half. You can, if you are carefull push the pins back out of the connector at one end and I tacked the new wires to these removed pins. Seems to work ok. The telephone/...

Re: B5.5 Key issue

All sorted.

It was just the battery, little red light flases now to, has not worked in over a year.
Seems strange it would lock and release the boot but not unlock the car!

I guess the little red LED not working is a good indicator to a low battery....

B5.5 Key issue

Hi I have a B5.5 TDi with the 3 key remote fob. All of a sudden yesterday the bottom unlock button seemed to stop working. The boot unlock and lock button works fine so i dont think its a battery issue. I tried the spare key and that works fine. So, just to be sure, can i change the battery in the k...

Re: Factory fit parking sensors.....quiet ?

Hi

Yeah, they are fairly quiet! On my last car I fitted an aftermarket set and put the sounder benind the dashboard, much better!!
I have to turn the stereo off each time I reverse down my road as you cant hear the beeps otherwise. Not the best design I guess.

Re: A lesson in cambelts

The PD belts work out a bit cheaper than the petrol ones as you dont have a damper to change. But thats a good price. Yeah, i think i got a bit of discount as i always smile nicely at the service desk girl (not just for a discount!) and i think i got about £50 off. Plus I am happy as that horrid r...

Hi

Just had my cambelt done this week by the local main dealer, £380 complete with new tensioner.
I to had a rattle from the engine bay, at just under 2k rpm and now its gone. and all sounds alot quieter. Mine is a 2004 TDi 130PD Sport if that helps (57500 miles)

Re: Installing Nokia CK-7W car kit.

Hi Installed the car kit fine! The radio did need the code (just sat there asking for 4 numbers) so looked in the handbook and slid in one of the rear pouches was a code card! Punched these numbers in and all was fine. The only weird thing is that when you turn the ignition off, the radio goes of as...

Re: Installing Nokia CK-7W car kit.

Hi all Thanks for the suggestions. Spoke to a mate last night who had a ISO power cable extender, fully wired so I have nabbed that, removed the pins from one and and soldered my supply cables (0V, 12VDC, switched 12VDC and tel mute) onto the pins and then put the pins back into the ISO connector. H...

Installing Nokia CK-7W car kit.

Hi Wonder if anyone can help. Just got myself a Nokia CK-7w car kit and need to pick up a permanent and switched 12VDC supply, a ground (easy that one) and mute line for the car audio system. I guess all these are available behind the car stereo (I have a MFD unit) but wondered if there was a better...

I spray a light coat of WD40 over mine, not had any ill effects and look quite good.
Not sure if it will have any effect in the long run though.

Try at your peril!!!

Hi Well, like you say either an earth path restriction or a supply issue. The only way you will find out is by replacing one or the either with a temporary substitute wire and see if the issue goes. I take it the new stereo doesnt require silly currents to operate? I presume the issue gets worse the...
