Hi,
I would buy a new fuel filter and fill it with diesel additive/injector cleaner and see if it helps reduce the figure.

Re: Front side loud rattle
All your symptoms are pointing towards something that's not been put back together properly. As as been stated above loose caliper carrier bolts can cause. Another common thing to check is that the brake pad retaining spring is sitting snug and fitted correctly, this can also cause the noise you're ...

Re: B5.5 ... Coolant leak help required page 11
I had to replace that exact pipe for the same reason. The old style gasket/tandem pump had been slowly leaking fuel onto it and it had swollen and started to leak. It was easier to access with the fuel filter and tandem pump off so I replaced them all at the same time and updated the pump to the new...

Re: Coolent loss
Hi,
I think what you're looking at is the overflow on the expansion tank. If so, it doesn't connect to anything. If it is dripping from there the coolant is either pressurising and being forced out of the overflow or the tank is cracked and will need replaced.

Hi,
Think this is what you're looking for:
1J0 906 627 A
You should be able to double check with wherever you're buying it from.

Re: passat not boosting well
Hi, If you're hearing that much hiss I would suspect a tear in the black boost hose that connects to the underside of the turbo. This is a common fault. As suggested above its probably worth trying to scan for any codes but noticeable turbo lag along with a loud hiss will point towards a leaky hose ...

Re: Worn 6 speed gearbox linkage repair
It's well worth the effort! It is fiddly but if you follow the video in the link and use the right tools it's not bad. When you take the 4 bolts off that secure the box to the body you can use a long screwdriver to get extra leverage to make the 4 torx screws more accessible. I also used my magnetic...

Re: Worn 6 speed gearbox linkage repair
Hi, I thought I would post an update. I recently had a new issue with the gear linkage where I would go to select 1st gear and could find myself in reverse if I wasn't careful. To get into reverse I didn't need to push down on the gear stick i just pushed left and it would be open to select. I also ...

Re: Loss of power and other general query
Sounds like you've got at least a couple of different issues going on. To help, you should get yourself a cheap lead off ebay to connect a laptop to your car and download the free version of vcds. This will show the fault codes and help take some of the guess work out. In the meantime......it sounds...

Re: b6 loss of power and barely any turbo !!
Hi - I have a 140 PS, TDI engine on a 56 plate. It has been playing up for a month with the turbo intermittently not working from start up and then sometimes working. I have had the pressure sensor changed and the wastegate cleaned to no avail. I mentioned to the garage about it being a faulty actu...

Re: help b5.5 awx under-boost
Hi, I would be helpful if you can post the boost logs to have a look. If it is truly producing 35psi it is overboosting way too much and the turbo won't last long as that's 2.4bar. Standard turbos shouldn't boost much more than 1.6bar. I'm running a hybrid turbo at over 200bhp and it boosts to 1.8ba...

Hi,
I would get some new bolts for refitting the turbo to the manifold and exhaust. There is also a small paper gasket that fits between the turbo and the oil return pipe that needs replaced.

Re: Egr valve
Disabling the egr won't stop the oil getting into the intercooler pipework. The oil comes out of the crankcase vent on the top of the camshaft cover and is fed back down to the turbo and then either burnt off, recycled or drips through the intercooler pipes.

Re: passat tdi 130 turbo stall sound?
I would say that you've got a split or leaking boost hose somewhere. Check all the intercooler hoses for tears and oil and then the smaller vacuum lines for deterioration. There's a black hose that comes out the bottom of the turbo that can split.

It sounds as though the turbo vanes have maybe been sticking for a while and its more recently got bad enough to put the car into limp mode. Have you got access to VCDS or similar to scan for codes?

Re: Boost problem!
Loads of smoke usually equals a big boost leak from one or more of the intercooler hoses. The hose that comes out the bottom of the turbo is a usual suspect for splitting. If its the ends of the hoses that are leaking you can replace the orings and clips. The poor mpg will be the car over fuelling t...

Re: Boost problem!
Hi, As Calum says its worth working around all the small vacuum hoses and check for deterioration. You will also need to check all the big boost hoses and see if there are any rips/splits. Its tricky to guess without more info but the MAF sensor can fail without showing a fault code as well and disp...

Re: Torquing lower control arms inner bolts
Hi, As above, I just tightened them back up as tight as I could by hand as I couldn't get a torque wrench on the inner bolts. With regards to accessing the bolts: I used an 18mm ring spanner on the nuts and let it jam against the subframe and I easily managed to get my 3/8 socket and wrench on the b...

the only real pain is the dropping of the rear subframe, the rest is pretty easy, just make sure you have a big hammer to hand (you'll need it) I replaced all my lower arms last week and decided not to lower the subframe for the lower rear arms....pulled the bolts out as far they would go, took my ...

The newer versions of the same pump are used on later models of golfs and passats. I got the latest revision for about £40 off ebay and a new metal gasket for a few pounds. The part number is : 038 145 209 / A / C / E / H / K / M / Q. You ideally want to look for the letter Q at the end to get the ...

Hi,
A seized alternator pulley could be the cause.
Plenty of posts on here about how to diagnose and how to replace.

B) the tandum is your problem , high milege motors have this problem which also affects the turbo, no power or limp mode , a hiss from the servo is not a problem. hope this helps :ymhug: Completely agree with the above....you'll most likely find that the valve on the vacuum side of the tandem pump ...

Also worth checking that the tandem pump isn't leaking fuel from the gasket or pump itself. This would also cause other running issues. You can run your hand round the back of the cylinder head to check.

Don't loose heart with it! It'll probably end up being a simple fix. Where are you located?
How about taking some photos in sections of how the pipes are currently connected and getting some help from guys on here?
