Re: Almost done with this car due to pollen filter / CCM issues... Any help greatly appreciated
Seems to be mostly coming from the front left of the car behind the glovebox and dripping down.
That’s *exactly* where and a description of the problem I had.
There’s a pipe (was black rubber on mine) behind the firewall and in front of the bulkhead and the bottom of it has a stupid flap of ...

Quick question re: the water ingress.
Have you checked the run off pipe on the passenger side bulkhead behind the firewall?
When I had my B5 I drove Glasgow to Leicester and my passenger footwell had a puddle about 4 inches deep.
Dried it out, was fine for days then did it again on way home ...

Re: B7 Passat Alltrack Purchase
Can’t really say 100% on the B7 but my B6 had a lot of “air” behind the back bumper.
Maybe try and find towbar instructions for this model and you can look at the punctured area and see if there’s anything above the exhaust that could be damaged.

Re: 3C5 2006 variant 2.0TDI hatch not locking
No idea if it’s electrical or the lock mechanism itself that’s failed but my B6 estate lock wasn’t working right so I bought a copy part off Amazon.
Was less than £20, don’t know how much now if it’s changed.
<edit> Just checked my Amazon history and it was this one, now £21. Check part numbers ...

Re: B5.5 Boring and on a Budget!
Obviously not guaranteed to work but as you say, minimal cost for a hopefully good outcome and not a major loss if it doesn’t, just back to square one.
I was skeptical first time I used it too but since I saw the results I’ve used it in 2 of my own vehicles and a couple of friends, all with great ...

Ah poo 😞
If the k seal worked at first then it might need a second bottle, that’s exactly what happened with my Zafira radiator, lasted a day or so then started dribbling again.

Re: B5.5 Boring and on a Budget!
You just put K Seal into the coolant tank as if you were topping up. It circulates with the coolant and finds it’s gaps to seal itself.
From that description it does sound like a potential leak but obviously hard to say.
Fingers crossed k seal works for you.

Re: B5.5 Boring and on a Budget!
Two things to try:
The pollen filter. I had this issue with my B5 TDi and my Zafira TD that a blocked pollen filter caused the window demist not to work and usually made it worse. It’s a relatively cheap and easy fix to at least try.

Believe it or not his damage is all front end cos he came straight at me.
Hit so hard even the passenger B pillar was bent on mine.
Soon as I saw the estate in Red I wanted one and hunted it down.
Not only did he not see the car, he didn’t see the give way!?

Tried that but it won’t let me create an account.
I get the message “sign up not possible in your region, use a 3rd party software” or summat.
Crazy when it’s set asking for a UK phone number

Thanks for that Mitch.
Once the weather changes and I get 5 minutes spare I’ll test that and report back.
Annoyingly I found a couple of VagCom posts about it too but yours is the first I’ve seen for vcds.

Re: Passat B8 Dual dash cam hard wire install (Nextbase 512GW)
If the B8 pillar cover is similar to the B6 then there’s a little “airbag” clip near the top that swings out to remove.
It acts like a clamp to the A pillar trim and gives the exact issue you need mention, feels like it’s going to snap or break.

Can’t find anything on pootube except the auto lock and for mostly other models (golf, t5, older polos etc), same with Google searches.
Did find one post that referred to activating it and they had turned off the windows down via remote etc too, they posted a link to a guide…

Anti-hijack locks
Hi All.
I believe the term for these are anti-hijack locks where only the drivers door opens with the first press of the key fob and requires additional rapid presses to open all doors.
Does anyone know if this can be disabled to just be a one click open/close all doors?

Re: B6 Anyone know what this is?
Is it genuine VW?
Looks like the display of a set of aftermarket reversing sensors I have in a box somewhere.
Might be something like that/alarm remote receiver/Bluetooth phone connection etc?
And no, I don’t have it on my 2010 Highline.

Just as an aside point with the obd scanners.
I also have a taxi (LTi TX4) and sometimes if the scanner dongle seems to be inserted it’s slightly off.
When it is slightly off I get nothing from it as the pins don’t connect. I know it’s a really long shot especially as you’ve tried two but might be ...

No idea about the lights, but on my 2010 Highline when I removed the radio surround to fit a new unit I had to disconnect the passenger airbag light from it.

When I had this on my 110BHP 1999 TDi it was the mass air flow meter that was faulty.
It’s easy to check, disconnect the wiring from it and the car should run a bit rough but the same all the time (instead of the right metering of air and fuel the ecu supplies a generic middle rating that isn’t ...

Only thing about that amazon link is the colouring.
From my B5 days I know the silver TDi was 90bhp, the red i meant 110bhp and the red Di was 150bhp.
I think the same was carried into the 5.5 and onwards being silver was base power, red I was next up and the Di meant third up in range.
